I have the cast aluminum on my truck as well. I prefer that style because I can also use them as platforms to work with whatever is on my RCI roof rack. I had a similar style on my 4Runner as well so I got used to stepping up onto them and then sitting down into the vehicle. It's a bit extra on movement, but it's a worthwhile trade to have a platform the full length of the cab vs two small drop steps.

I have oval 5 stainless steel running boards they are very functional. The only complaint I have is they stick out a little too much for as I have short legs and get the back of my pants dirty or wet from sliding out of the truck, getting in is no problem. In the winter slush does form in between the cab and the boards via the braces. The main reason that I got some installed is for protecting he sides from stones etc etc.

mine came with the cast aluminum ones. They arent my first choice cosmetically but they came with the truck and the dog uses them to climb in the truck with little help now. Looks like I just get used to them now but they grow on me, for her

Are these easy to simply step over? My wife wants them, which is fine, but I find it awkward to actually step on them.

Aluminum for me..luckily got them used. Not sure they are worth price dealer charges but i find them useful for dog, wife likes them, and easier to reach roof rack etc

Over think things much? I'm not here to debate the merits of one-type of side-step over another :rofl:Use whatever you want. For my height (5'9) and for the way I use my truck(s) (off-road, generally in rocks), the high-mounted steps work the best *for me*. I also think they look a lot better then the other styles but that's a personal preference.

Yes, I've stepped-over mine many times without brushing them. FYI Some of the aftermarket side steps look similar but are adjustable in/out.

Question for those who installed the 767-35112 on a 3rd gen DCSB, did all 6 bolts line up on the drivers side? On mine, the front bracket is 2-3" short to reach the upper hole on the rocker so the the bolt is in the top step brkt hole but in the bottom thread hole on the rocker. Hope I explained that right. I saw a Utube vid of someone with a similar issue but was with Rough Country steps but nothing on these. My passenger side fit perfect. I redid the drivers side twice but there's just no way!

    A few.
With a set of the toyota oem running boards I had to elongate one of the holes on the front running board bracket to get it to line up with the mounting hole under the cab

Thank-you for your feedback, at least now I know it's not just me. I was thinking maybe the board was warped.
You made 1 hole bigger but still could use both boots?

So I figured it out, the front brackets are slightly different from the middle and rears. Sadly my box came with 5 of the same and 1 just front.
Gotta research to see if I can find just a front bracket. Going to swap the driver and passenger front brkt for now, want the 2 bolts under me, I'm heavier.

It’s always helpful to find the PDF install instructions. It will show you these differences. If you still need brackets, keep in mind the part number with “HK” at the end designates the hardware kit that corresponds with the steps. Below is an example

Thank-you for the link. The pdf instructions on this model does not show the brackets since they come preattached with loose bolts for adjustments.
I found the kit, looks like gotta buy all 6 brackets vs just the 1 front. I wish the kit link had individual part numbers, it would help with the search.

Yes. I had to elongate on of the holes with a dremel tool. Its interesting that I also installed a set of aftermarket boards on the same truck and all the holes lined uo perferctly.

How did you get the third bracket to line up?

After reading your post, I tried to install a pt767-35111 on my new double cab and the third bracket is way off. The front two brackets line up perfectly fine.

I am going to try to sell it off as soon as I can find the correct one. Right now they are just installed with the front two brackets. I have kids 5 years and younger who get into the back so will suffice temporarily.

The curve on that running board goes to the front of the truck? Are they on the wrong side?curve.jpg

Mine fit perfectly. Are you sure you have them on the correct side? Notice that mine are further back than yours. i.e. mine reach the bed, yours do not. Try switching them.

Here's a side picture. Notice how the step reaches the bed.

    You have the correct one.

I tried to install the ones for the access cab with pt767-35111 on my double cab. I thought they would fit as someone suggested above, but clearly the rear bracket lines up differently on pt767-35111 (access cab) vs pt767-35112 (double cab).

That's interesting. I will check again tomorrow. I did put the one that said "passenger side" on the side I took a picture of. Maybe they are mislabeled. I will check again once the weather warms up a bit here.

Thanks for the replies so far. Much appreciated.
