Hi - When I bought my 2013 Tacoma last year it came with running boards, which I really like. The problem I've encountered is that my dog has gotten his back leg caught several times in between the running board and truck (there's a gap) when he jumps into the back seat. I'm trying to find out if there is an all rubber surface running board, as this one has the hard plastic and chrome and his feet slip right off. Any suggestions?

I know what your talking about, I had the same thing happen. It can be very dangerous for them. After that close call I always picked her up and physically either place her in or took her out. I made it my responsibility.

I hear you. The last time it nearly broke his leg. I'm trying to pick him up but he is a BIG dog and always so excited to get into the truck so sometimes he jumps before I can grab him (and he is on a leash). But I agree, picking him up is the safe way. Just exploring other options for a safer running board.

Maybe you could get some black indoor/outdoor carpet and wrap that step with it. It would give better grip but No Help with the gap problem unless you could also attach it to the underside of the rocker bottom somehow.
You need to fill in that gap somehow.

If I were you I'd replace the running boards with sliders that dont have any windows for legs to get caught in. They're cheaper than doing surgery on your pet and it's nice to have some cab protection.
