Not hardly. 10 cents worth of gas will not make any difference. Especially at 2.80 a gallon. I can see how it could potentially get into the the EVAP canister if it was 50 cents worth or more.

At 4 bucks a gallon that 10 cents is 3.2 ozs. Highly unlikely that that amount filled up the fill tube to the point that it then filled up the evap.

There are times when the wrong product gets put into the station tanks. Not often but it does happen. E85 is nothing like gas.

we can argue about the effect separately, but pulling the pump handle after it's clicked off is fundamentally topping off, regardless of if it's for $0.01 or $100.

the funny part to me about trying to get 'even numbers' at the pump is many people will then go inside afterwards and be perfectly ok with a $x.46 item after tax. i mean, no one is shopping target based on if they add 3 more toilet paper bundles to their cart to equal an even number after tax...

I have no intention of arguing with you. I’ll just choose not to agree with you, and move on with my life. I’m looking for real help, not “ooh you’re topping off ten cents f’d it up”. Which is simply not true.

Clear codes, run the engine until sets codes, get the freeze frame and start troubleshooting if comfortable. Otherwise tow to the dealer.

Probably just bad gas. I wouldn't do anything till I ran a top tier gas and a full tank through the motor.

Some engine treatment like heet wouldn't hurt either

That’s definitely not the same thing. Rounding up $0.15 is all of .05 gallons around here.

I’ve sent my fuel sample out to have tested. But here is what it looks like. I took a little bit from what I drained out of my tank and put it in a jar then put a little bit of fresh gas in the jar. Whatever it was I got from the gas station, it doesn’t mix with gas.

From the picture it looks like the new gas is floating on top. If this is the case it may be water, which is probable if it was a poorly maintained station where you filled up. If it's water you need to get it all out because it will settle at the bottom of your tank and present issues for ever. You can try to use a vacuum pump to get everything out of the tank but even a small amount of water will still cause issues so you may need to drop the tank. You also need to flush the gas lines and change the fuel filter. Hopefully the analysis comes back soon.

I tried the vacuum pump route and I don’t think it got all the bad stuff out. I plan on dropping the tank and draining it completely dry. I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure these 3rd gen Tacomas don’t have a fuel filter other than what’s on the pump in the tank.

    Update.
I removed the fuel tank from the truck, took the fuel pump out and siphoned every bit of gas out of the tank. Then put about 3ish gallons of fresh gas in and sloshed it around, then siphoned it out as well. Put the fuel pump back in the tank and the tank back under the truck. Put a can of seafoam in the tank and then about 7 gallons of ethanol free gas. Cleared the codes, started the truck and it stumbled for about 5-10 seconds then cleared out (assuming it still had some bad gas in the lines/fuel rails). Let the truck idle for about 10 minutes then went for a short drive. Truck ran and drove great. No CEL on or anything.

These are pictures of what I drained out vs. fresh gasoline

Wow! thanks for updating. Do you have any recourse on the gas station?
