Hello, I am looking at purchasing a 2011 TRD Sport and want to get opinions on the frame rust. There is some flaking and plenty of surface rust.

The truck is a manual, 4x4 double cab with 125k kms on it. Listed at 15,500$ Cad. Overall the truck is in good shape but the rust has me a bit concerned about the longevity of it. I do live in a notoriously rusty climate for cars. I would address the rust if I did purchase but wanted to get some feedback on if I should just be avoiding the truck altogether.

Yes thanks, new to this site and thought I had added them. Hopefully these work! I have taken a flat head to lots of areas of the frame and havent noticed anything 'soft' besides some of the flaking.

That doesn't look great, but also not the worst I've seen. Are you able and willing to do the work to rehab the frame? It may not have soft spots but if you don't address what's happening now it could get much worse over a relatively short period of time. I wouldn't buy that truck without a plan in place to take care of the rust.

    Welcome aboard!

I agree with @BabyBilly, that frame doesn’t look promising. Unless you need a vehicle right now, I’d keep looking if I were you.

Thanks guys. If I did go ahead I would plan on pulling the bed, pressure washing and wire wheeling all accessible frame before spraying rust inhibitor in as many spots as possible. And doing the same under the cab as much as possible. The reason I am still tempted is the seller has said they would go to 13,500 cad (~10,000 usd) which is quite a bit below anything comparable I could find around the country for the age and relatively low KMs. But it sounds like it still may be more trouble than its worth. I appreciate the feedback!

Wanted to get others opinions on the amount of rust on this 2015 with 175k miles on it. Is this something that can be treated? If so, what type of service mitigates rust on Tacomas? Thanks in advnace.

That thing is rust-free brother! The exhaust will always look like that but your frame looks good from what I can see. The pics are small but yeah I think that's good to go.
