Anyone getting rust around the rear window under the weather stripping? I reported it to Toyota and they said its not their problem. If you have it post it here, with pictures. I would like to create a case to turn into Toyota because I think this is a design flaw.
    Thanks,
    Richard

Well, for once I agree with Toyota. I mean it is a 10 year old vehicle.

If you want do something useful, pull the window, repair the rust properly, reset the glass and enjoy your truck.

Yeah I understand your frustration OP, especially with that being in such a noticeable spot. But like Bill said its 10 years old and highly unlikely Toyota will do anything.

That makes me want to take my truck in. I don't have rust, but the weatherstripping at the top driver's side corner doesn't sit flush with the cab metal. Seems like I could have a similar problem in 10 years.

you could cut the glass out which trust me is a real PITA.. especially if its been out before. grind all the rust off prime it with either glass primer or pinchweld primer and reinstall the glass.

Agree with OP - this is a design flaw of some type. Texas is not a rust state and 10 years is way too early for rust to begin. I have had several vehicles with 10+ years on them and not a spec of rust.

I think Toyota is beginning to play the same game the Big 3 have been doing for years - don't build it to last. Instead of mechanical failure they're choosing body and frame failure.

It's really pathetic that everyone on this forum is such a die hard Toyota fanboy they can't acknowledge or even begin to believe that Toyota created a fault in their product. Toyota makes mistakes like everyone else but defending them over and over and continuing to buy their crap ensures nothing changes. This is why the 3rd gen is such a mess.

Sure. Me and thousands of folks with rusted out frames and class action lawsuits are all trying to get something for nothing. But keep on buying this crap if it helps you sleep at night.

Without seeing the rest of the window I can't from these pictures assume that this is an ISSUE. It actually looks like rusty weeping/ dripping from something above and not the window installation. Are you parking under a rusty tin roof?

Like others even though you're in Texas metal rusts. Take it to a body shop and have it investigated and repaired.

Never said it should be warrantied, just that it should not be happening. Certainly not in 10 years in a non rust state. Toyota has a well defined and well documented issue with rust.
