I have a 2004, what are the chances of them replacing the frame? Also, I went to a body shop today and they said it was too late to undercoat it. Once the rust has started you can reverse the situation. I see alot of of ppl mentioned undercoat after the fact, is this a true statement from the bodyman?

I'm driving a rental Camry while they replace the frame on my '02. Looks like 01-04 Taco frames get inspected and replaced if they don't pass.

01-04 frames either get replaced or undercoated at the discretion of the dealer/Toyota, no buybacks.

    Fixed it for ya.

The rust is INSIDE the frame. The damage is already done. Undercoating will not help the situation.

You should talk to a Toyota dealer.

That's what my body man said, undercoating will not resolve the problem...so is there currently a recall on 04? Has anyone delt with Boch Toyota? That is where I bought the truck.

From what I've seen on this forum and other forums - the 04's get a complete frame replacement.

I would call your dealer and ask them about the rust warrantee. See what they tell you.....

Most likely, you'll go in for an inspection. Either pass or fail.
If you fail...hopefully they'll give you a new frame replacement for free and you get the keep the truck!

I absolutely HATE these frame rust threads. They scare the bejeebers outta me. But like a horrifying car accident, I just HAVE to watch... :(

Toyota called me Friday and gave me a very fair price for my 1998. Still have the rental a 2011 Rav4. Once they have the check ready I will meet them at Marion Toyota and get it. Not sure how long that will take. Thank you for all the help.

Toytec 2.5" lift., just the beginning. Front Builstein coil-overs fully adjustable from 0-3". 2" AAL in the rear with 2.5 degree shim. Total Chaos uni-ball UCA's.
I hear ya'. I have a 99 taco, luckily I live in northern nevada where they don't salt the roads too much.. I still take my truck in every year to get it checked out. They haven't offered me anything but a "keep up the good work" (regarding the build and frame cleaning). Hopefully it never fails. I've been a real stickler about spraying out the frame at least 2-3 time every winter, and every time i wash the truck during the summer. I don't want to give up my truck. I'd weld a new frame together before letting them give me 150% buyback option. LOL.
