    Hello Forum,

I washed my '08 DCSB this morning & noticed this under the right lower corner of the rear window:

This is the left lower corner of the rear window:

Is this something for me to be concerned about or am I making a big thing out of nothing?

    Is this an easy fix?

Can I do anyhting to stop it from growing?

    Thanks

I would take it to the dealer cuz to me the first pic looks like rust under the paint could be caused by leaky window seal or something like that if it was my truck I would be taking it in first thing

Fuck the dealer, he's out of warranty.

OP, find a good body shop and get an estimate. Hopefully that area hasn't rotted too much and it can be relatively inexpensive to repair. Definitely get it checked out. The nastiness could go quite a bit further than what you see.

I purchased my truck from a Dodge Dealership on January 3, 2012. I took my sons Dodge for service, saw the Tacoma & bought it. You think the dealership will still cover it since I am the 2nd owner?

The only way to know that for sure would be to drive by your local Toyota dealership and ask

IIRC , the perforation corrosion warranty is 7 years and transferrable , whether or not this qualifies I can't answer , but as others have said , whatever route you take , you should deal with it sooner than later

Not sure that covers sheetmetal, but if it does, then agreed, go for the warranty.

IIRC rust perforation warranty is frame/suspension.

Yes they will cover it doesn't matter if your the second owner the rust perforation follows the truck for it's life unless older than 60 months so says the warrenty and service guides

the warrenty book says, "This warrenty covers repair or replacement of any original body panel that develops perforation from corrosion."

Hopefully this is not an indication that the truck has had some previous damage to it.

That is in a seam that should be filled with a body seam putty. It looks like the putty was cracked and water got into it... It will get worse if unattended to. Hard to say but it appears to have had body work...

    Get it checked.

This morning I read my manual and it has another booklet attached stating the warranties. I found where it states: 60 month/unlimited mile corrosion protection if there is a perforation.

I took my truck to Lehman Toyota. They said it is covered but they don't have a body shop. They suggested that I take it to Headquarter Toyota.

I took it there and the receptionist in the body shop department said that the 3yr/36K will not cover this. I told her that the manual states otherwise. She then called the body shop tech. I explained to him that if you lift up the rubber you see it more. He said that it's a seem in the metal where the 2 pieces are joined together. He lowered the seat to look at the window from the inside. He said that he did that to verify that it has not been previously tampered with. Thats a good sign. He then brought out a camera but my picture looked better than his so I emailed it to him. He then showed his manager and he OK'd it. He asked me to drop it off this Wednesday morning. He stated that they can't cover a rental for me (which I never asked for). I said "That's fine, as long as it gets fixed correctly, I am happy."

I would like to add that the receptionist did not have a bad attitude. She seemed to believe it was 3yr/36K.

Wish me luck. I'll keep you posted.

    Hello Forum,

I picked up my truck on Tuesday morning from Headquarter Toyota in Miami on nw 57th ave & the Palmetto. I am very happy with their service. It appears to be a very well done job. They even had to remove the bed in order to access the area behind the window. I know this was done because I have d-rings bolted to the bed through all 6 bolts & I have them installed in the same linear position & the bolts are painted. There was also a bunch of pieces of rubber in the bed & I can see the new rubber seal on the inside of the window. They also washed the truck, except for some debris in the bed but I am not complaining!

It's about time I get lucky. I missed the warranty for a repair on my sons Charger by 600 miles!

    Thanks forum
    :D
