Definitely, salt/brine accelerates rust and its pretty harsh on exposed metals.

I have a new 23 Tacoma SR5 DCLB and wanted to protect the pristine undercarriage as I live in northern New York and salty roads are the norm November through April. I already used 4 cans of Fluid Film and have 2 more in reserve to touch up before the salt comes. Now I’m second guessing myself and the cosmoline treatment looks like what I should have gone with. Should I just stick with ff this year and go with cosmoline next year, or can it be applied over FF?

Cosmoline won't adhere over the FF, but the other way around I find it works just fine, just do it next year, you'll be fine for this winter with FF
