Don't bother treating it with a neutralizer, it won't last. Get a can of fluid film and spray that on it along with all the other hardware while your down there. That'll keep it from getting worse. My 22 did that after 1 month of ownership. I rust proof the whole vehicle anyway so it doesn't really matter.

What about your brake rotors? You'd be insane to complain about them developing a bit of surface rust after a rain. There some parts on your truck where surface rust just simply isn't a concern. Please, don't go in there demanding they coat it, they'll never take you seriously after that. Take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy your truck.

spray everything but the brakes and exhaust with a lanolin or petroleum based rust protector, Fluid film, Wool Wax, Surface Shield, Cosmoline, etc... the parts you posted pics of are raw steel, or cast raw iron, neither have protection and very common in the automotive industry. nothing to worry about. That’s normal. Look underneath most new Trucks at the dealer and you will see the same thing.
As time passes you will find a few other things underneath that begin to rust like the welds on the frame.
Not to worry, Its just surface rust and it happens to all vehicles. As long as you don’t have a 2005 era 2nd gen you’ll be fine lol. The important parts are coated/protected adequately . If you live in the rust belt make sure you wash winter road treatments off as often as possible.

Another don’t make em like they used to thread

for decades, as as far back as I can remember, most vehicles have unpainted/uncoated steel suspension and drivetrain components.
