    I just purchased a 1998 4x4 tacoma. it is a standard cab with a i4 5speed.
It was not till i washed off the dirt that i saw a lot of surface rust on the frame.
    It seems to be everywhere.
It does not appear to be deep, rust.
Almost like sandpaper would take it off.
    maybe undercoating?

I think i should do something?

    any suggestions

Yeah i went under my truck and sanded all the rust down and painted it with a special rust neutralizer. it isnt hard to do and can save you a lot of money in the long run. I woulddefinitely do it if you have the free time to do it.
