Hey guys, I know these topics get beaten to hell but because it’s happening to me and stressing me out, I’m asking for some guidance.

I purchased a few months back a 2004 DC Tacoma from a sleazy dealer. The overall body and interior was good but came with some undercarriage rust. I think it’s all just surface (hoping) but would like a second opinion. Truck only has 95K mileage and had its frame replaced ten years ago. This vehicle lived its life in Ohio. I’m from Washington state and purchased sight unseen (I know...I know). Here’s some pictures.

Let me know what you guys think. There are no holes in the frame.

I’m not a handy type of guy but have done some research on how to clean it up with a wire wheel I bought from Harbor Freight and a can of Rustoleum.

ive had a few people up in my state telling me to just dump the truck... I’d rather save it

Biggest concern to most here will be the rust on the frame. These frames tend to trap water and salt inside them, so the extent of rust is hard to gauge just from pictures. But the frame has a lot of rust already just from picture 1/2. Take a ball peen hammer to the frame to really assess it and then for the love of god treat that rust on the frame before it goes any further.
