    Hey All,

So I am looking into getting some Nerf Bars for my 2014 Tacoma. I have pretty much decided on the Westin GenX Oval Tube Drop Steps. However i want to get them in black which seems to have a lot of rust problems across the boards. I wanted to get the opinions of everyone on how to rust proof these before i put them on my truck. I have seen a lot of people like the Line-X option, but that seems like overkill for simple rust issue (maybe someone can explain why this is a favorite option). Are there any other suggestions from anyone else?

Sand them down, hit them with plenty of coats of Rustoleum primer, then 2-3 coats of the bedliner of your choice. That should seal them up nicely unless you scratch them pretty hard.

Nothing is overkill when dealing with rust.
