Cosmoline followed by fluid film is what I plan on doing in the next few months before winter.
I figure better safe than sorry

Does this stuff dry non-sticky? I live on a dirt road and used wool wax last year. Really hated the dirt build up that accumulated by spring. It was very stubborn to remove, even with a power washer.

So that tells you it doesn't come off with road spray.

How much woolwax or fluid film to do my dcsb taco? I assume with a $50 gallon i would have some left over? Would I be able to do two vehicles with a gallon?

Not so sure thats a great idea without knowing how they'd react with each other. I think using one or the other would be best, or you may wind up with a greasy/oily mess under there.

You should be able to, depends on what you actually rust proof. If you do the entire inside of your frame and all panels (bed sides, rockers, fenders, engine Bay, etc) a gallon may run short doing 2 vehicles this way. Also if you have a high volume gun spraying it you'll go through a lot in a hurry

Using the pro gun with woolwax I can get a thick coat on everything under there. Inside all the boxed areas, up into the bed area , fender area and everything and everywhere I need to get. A gallon is plenty for 2 Tacomas or similar size vehicles. The pic is to show how thick I put it on. Anything that looks like rust in the pic is just leaf particles stuck to the film. 20200924_130123.jpg

I’d probably fluid film or wool wax it and be done. From my observations of all the diy corrosion inhibitor tests out there, fluid film is the most consistent performer, everything else can be hit or miss dependent on the test methods and whatnot. I’ve been using corrosion X HD cause it’s a thick fluid coat that still remains greasy even after a couple years in my experience and it’s a close contender but fluid film still is most consistent. Just smells awful. I used wool wax most recently on my GX frame and am very happy with it.

Woolwax, comes in spray, can, clear and black.

I’ve worked on both of my trucks and it’s not bad...grease wise.

    and very little smell

Also have an incoming Tacoma and have been researching this as I am on I95 for 80 miles a day in NE throughout winter. And park outside. If you search youtube there are a couple of guys who have video check ins using FF up to like 6 years and seem pretty convincing. Might want to search those out. Im sure there are some for WW as well. ?

Iv been saying is... look into what the dealer has to offer and see if it’s worth what they are asking... some stuff dealers use is really good stuff which means you probably won’t have to buy several cans of whatever... depending on your age, it might be worth doing this

A plastic tarp or cardboard under and a lift makes it nice. But you can do it on ramps or stands if needed.

Yes, but you can also just climb under your rig if you have clearance. My 02 has a 2.5”, whereas my 20 is still stock.

If you have enough room to just climb under a 3rd gen and be able to move around enough to spray you are a tiny tiny man.

Get a couple cheap auto-ramps. Drive up and do the front. Drop the spare and back up and do the rear. Easy peasy.

You learn to love the smell of Fluid Film, as it is the smell of your truck not rusting.

Toyota absolutely loves to give you a rust-prone frame. It makes them very happy (sadists). You have to love the smell of FF more than that.
