After reading a bit online about the Tacoma and rust. Do I need to protect my new truck from rust? I live in St. Louis Missouri, we get some snow and ice so salt is applied to the streets. A local krown dealer wants $129.99 to cover the truck. Could I just wash the truck off after every snow to get the salt off of it?

The short answer is yes... Go buy some fluid film (5 cans) and spray down the whole underside. I pop the little plugs in the doors and dump 1/2 a can of wd40 in each one. Get behind the bumpers too.

I bought the gallon kit Last yr. so far I have sprayed it each fall. 2 times and I think I can get maybe 2 more times out of the gallon. I even lower the spare and get n there real good also. I use a little pancake compressor and it works real well. I started doing this the day I brought the truck home from the dealer.

If you can expect the temperature to climb above freezing after every snowfall, sure. Where I live, the temperature can stay below freezing for weeks a time.
