So I was washing my truck over the weekend and I notice a very small (like the size of the tip of a sharpie) rust spot on my rear bumper....in that narrow gap right between my license plate and that plastic cover over the hitch assembly.

What's the best way to repair this to prevent further corrosion?

Remove any loose chrome, remove the loose rust, then neutralize the remaining corrosion with Naval Jelly (phosphoric acid). Then touch up the spot with silver enamel paint to prevent it from rusting in the future.

Anything abrasive will remove the loose rust. Scotchbrite, sand paper, wire wheel, or steel wool. Vinegar isnt necessary. Then use phosphoric acid or a jelly that contains phosphoric acid like Naval Jelly.
