So, i was changing a flat on my truck and noticed this awesomeness peaking around my fender flare. I poked it, and my finger went completely through. I'm sure this hole will be at least twice the size by the time i clean it out to good metal. Is this hole worth trying to repair? Or should i just try to locate a new to me bedside and paint it? I think it will be difficult trying to bend/fit metal to the shape in this area of the truck as a patch panel or whatever.

An epoxy filler then prime and paint... it’s such a small area or rust you just could find clean metal seal it off with the epoxy then paint. Trying to cut fill and weld in that area is problematic unless your very handy woth a mig

Ah gotcha, I understand now. I'm definitely not handy with a mig, that is a skill I need to work on for sure lol.

I don’t have a 2g but if i had to guess you had that seal fail and cause crevice corrosion. Check your other seals

When i bought this truck, that area on both sides of the truck looked like it had been hammered with rocks for 30 years. the fender flares were wore down to bare plastic etc.. i pulled the flares off, and i did find some surface rust after i pulled them off. i ground down to good metal, coated with chassis saver and then primed and painted. I guess there was still more that i didnt catch.
