I purchased it at Vanderstyne and they have always been very good to me so far. I am bringing it in today to be dropped of to be fixed and I'll let you know how it goes.

I had the Ziebart under body and doors done. They do have a separate warranty but the issue I am having is what I think to be a paint defect that has just grown. I don't think the Ziebart would have stopped this because its more of surface defect.

Vanderstyne are pretty reputable and should go to bat for you. I've bought from Dorschel for my Toyotas and Lexuses and they've always been awesome so if you get any flak from Vanderstyne, tell them you're taking your business across town! Had to go all the way to Watertown to find my TRD Pro though. Waite Toyota, terrific dealer!

I just thought about this... Did you treat your truck for rail dust after purchase? My truck had it and I treated the whole thing with Iron X. Great stuff and worked well to remove the rusty spots on the paint.. Maybe some got on your truck and wore down to the metal. I know my fender that got hit by a dumpster rusted in a week so it happens quick, specially up north.

My front fender Rusted in a week after it was hit by a dumpster so idk. Pretty sure it's thin steel.

Watered down Chinese paint applied in 1 micro layer by a robot in Mexico doesn't stand a chance in the rust belt.

You guys realize that the rust warranty is for perforation. Its essentially useless. If it doesn't get a rust HOLE in 60 months...Toyota is off the hook.

Umm. I have it pretty good authority what you said is not true. The paint top of the line from some of the largest companies in the world either DuPont, PPG or similar depending on the year contract, most likely made right here in the USA.

    Yes and no.

    Corrosion/Rust-Through Warranty
It can easily be argued that the materials or workmanship are sub-par, thus even though the rust may not perforate the metal it is in fact a defect.

    About 344,000 results (0.44 seconds)

Believe you me....I would love to move south for so many reasons especially out of NY. High taxes, shitty politics and long winters. Beautiful state especially upstate but my wife’s career holds us back

It is supposed to come from dust created by trains, and is common to find on white painted vehicles.

The theory goes that you have sparks or burs of hot metal of dust particle size that in-bed on your clear coat. The dust will oxidize creating small rust spots on your paint that are superficial (not the truck body itself). If you wax your truck it is less likely for the metals stay on your clear coat.

Actually the part that is true is: small metal particles in-bed in your clear coat and create little opportunities for rust. Where the dust comes from could be: brake dust or some other cause.

It would for "rail dust", however OP does NOT have rail dust. It is clear that the metal is oxidizing beneath the paint.

Yeah he's got something going on for sure. I was just wondering if the particles could embed in the paint and larger chunks vibrate deeper into the paint, reaching metal that could cause rust. Anyhow. IRON X worked wonders. Had a little dust on my quicksand and it got all of it out.

You just have hurricanes, flash floods, tornados, MS 13, and golf ball size hail to worry about lol
