IronX, THEN clay, always use chemical decon agents before using mechanical decon methods like clay. I'd much rather dissolve those metal flakes than rub them around. Make sure after you decon and clay, you give it a good cleaning, dry well, then seal or wax. I like synthetic sealants. Carpro reload is my favorite.

So I got all my stuff from AutoGeek the other day & got busy cleaning my truck up. The IronX is amazing stuff!!! I ended up using the whole bottle & couldn't find more locally so I got a Mcguires brand to finish on those rust spots. Doesn't seem to work quite as well but got the job done. Used their claybar & sealer with the Collinite carnauba to finish it up. Very happy with the results!

Nice job! Ironx really is amazing. Imagine not using that and just clay? There's something about how good a car looks after it's been clayed and sealed.
Check out carpro reload or hydro2, sealants that last a good 4-6 months. Or P&S beadmaker, a sealant that is super glossy and slick but only lasts a couple months. The slickness and gloss has me addicted to using it, over hydro2
All those impurities getting pushed around by the clay. Lets see some pics.

It is great stuff but smells like 10 old lady's getting perms all at the same time!
I'm definitely looking for something that lasts a long time & protects especially living in the salty midwest rust belt! Thinking of trying that hybrid spray on/rinse off stuff after all that scrubbing & rubbing this week

I just tried Beadmaker and it was suuuuper slick and glossy. But water shedding wasn't very good in a rain. I'm kinda stumped on this one.

I didn't know Meguiars had a consumer level iron remover. Or did you use the stuff in the professional detailers series?

I have good luck with water beading with beadmaker , but I do have hydro2 and or reload under it at all times. I haven't tried it as a stand alone. I use it as a gloss booster. I haven't tried it as a drying aid yet but I hear it works well.

Google led me to this since I was trying to get it finished & didn't want to wait for shipping. Carquest here in town had it for $13. Its marketed as a wheel cleaner but seemed to do pretty well. Not as good as IronX cuz the stuff is just magical

It really makes no sense that they called it Beadmaker. It is an odd product, slickness is great and all but there are many products that can fill that need as a drying aid. Sure as fuck isn't going to be slick after a couple days of pollen or dust anyway. Now the look, yes it does look good particularly for darker colors.

I've been washing my Mom's car when I see her once a week or other week and applying Beadmaker while drying. It's a Rav4 that's never had any LSP or clay and barely ever got washed for that matter. When I do the pre rinse on her car the I see amazing beading so the Beadmaker must work even better on frequent applications. Noticed there was a thread on AG where a reviewer came to a similar conclusion:

Jeez. I woulda been too scared to spray the whole vehicle down with a wheel cleaner! I would think that could be disastrous if done in the sunlight?

Maybe my problem was that the previous month old paint sealant (Blackfire SiO2 Spray) was still on the surface when I applied Beadmaker.

I got it primarily for a gloss-enhancer too. But if the water shedding doesn't improve with a couple more applications, I'll go back to DG Aquawax or Ultimate Spray Wax.

There is just too many variables when it comes to detailing products. I also suspect that more times than not someone's positive experience with layering products is more a happy accident or the topper product works for a shorter period of time then sheds off quicker than it should.

Never the less, don't use Beadmaker thinking one application is going to last months. Use it like the a lot of the sio2 sprays, use it often before you ever see the previous application diminish.

Have you tried mother's cmx yet? I hear it's pretty damn good. Havent tried it yet but I may grab a bottle.

I'm in the process of paint correction and applying DPC shield ceramic coating. I gave it a test run today on my tailgate. Used IronX, clay mitt, meg's 205 with cutting pad, then eraser, then carpro essence on a finishing pad. Applied the coating which went on easy, let it sit for a few minutes then leveled it and buffed it. Will let it sure 24 hours then apply a second coat. Then top with reload in a few days. So far it looks good, very glossy. Supposed to protect for 2 years with proper maintenance.

I need some compound for a few areas. Once I get that I'll do the rest of the truck.

I Haven't tried the Mother's CMX but I did try the Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Wax (mist on, Spray off with water). It's nice stuff. Good beading and couldn't be any easier. But it's expensive per application. I used about half a bottle to do my truck. Maybe I used too much. But it works. For someone that wants EASY and locally available, that would be my go-to.

Yea I was very sceptical also but it said it was for for any type of wheel surface. Painted or plated. I tested it out in an area & seemed to be fine. Also said the same kind of directions as the IronX so I figured I give it a try. I did it after work when the sun was behind the house & quickly in sections never giving it a chance to dry. Maybe the Mcguire's is a lil diluted down compared to the IronX for for that reason?

I've wondered the same thing on wheel cleaners that say they're safe on clear coated wheels... with that being the case, there's no reason they shouldn't be safe on the body panels.
