Has anyone else ran into rust spots on the edge around the windows on all 4 doors? Wondering if this is know issue or not.

I’ve only seen it rust on 1st gens at joints of roof ,and inner door jamb due to caulking cracking and water getting in. Some I’ve see rust big cancer holes also. 2nd gen’s are just notoriously known for the roof panel clear failing and water getting past paint and becomes completely rusted. I have never ran into what you have here on this 2nd gen.

I have those too. It's very common on the white especially. Maybe because of the lack of clear coat?
Clay bar will take those out, it's not the truck rusting, it's the rail dust or whatever. Small particles of metal in the air that get embedded in your paint.
If you don't get them out, they will ruin the pain and the rust will make it's way down to the metal.

I doubt clay bar will solve that. Definitely looks like from underneath. If it were on top it would have rust stains running down you can see it acting like a pimple. You need to repair treat and paint. Ballpark 1600-2k$. Ik bummer deal.averge cost 300-450$ a door in shop.

I’m going to try and fix this myself next weekend. I will update and post pictures when I’m finished.

Unless it looks terrible, then it will go to a body shop and I won’t talk about it ever again. :spending:

:annoyed: I’ve had some tiny specs occasionally. Cleaned them off with a clay bar !

The same shit everyone else has.
Is the paint chipped/missing down to bare metal in these spots?

If it’s not. Clean it well. Wax the areas & the rest of the truck. Seal everything well. And be done with it.

They may be rust spots from something sitting on top of the paint and oxidizing.

Really curious to see what’s under the rust

Update: used the Adams clay bar, it helped reduce the appearance of the spots but nothing more than that.

I’ve got a couple more things to try, I’ll update when I’m done

Have you taken a clay bar over the area?

That looks like embedded steel dust.
