Yeah, I used Adams clay bars on the areas. First time doing it though, I’m going to give it another try though before I try some paint/filler products

Get a heavy duty clay bar (the kind you have makes a difference) and then get a product like Iron X or Chemical Guys Decon. Clay bar the area, then spray it down really good with the deironizer, and then clay bar again.

You may need to polish out some of the rust staining in the paint. If you do need to do this, tape off all the black rubber/plastic on the truck before getting a good hand applicator pad and some cutting polish so you don't stain the black plastics/rubber. You should be able to clean it up.

Just curious if the rust spots are only on the front facing side? This would suggest gravel and rocks pelting the body and chipping micro-holes in the paint as the truck is traveling forward. Are you following a lot gravel trucks on your routes? I work by a freeway exit that serves 5 rock quarries and get pelted constantly by BB-sized rocks. I try really hard to stay way back but still go through 1 or 2 windshields a year. I try to keep my truck polished with Nu Finish a few times a year thinking its tougher than carnauba wax. I also swear by bug shields as they help protect the hood. I'm wondering if those window rainguards might help deflect projectiles.

Yeah they’re on the front facing parts, there’s a couple threads with other guys with the same issue. But yeah, I believe they’re mostly rock/gravel related.

Get some of the carpro iron x and a good clay bar. I do mine a few times a year. I get it in more places than just the windows though. If you have a full day to do it I hear that a good ceramic coat will last a year or more and not allow any of this to contaminate the paint, although I cannot confirm this as I have not done it yet. Just carnauba wax for me. I believe mine is mostly brake dust due to the aftermarket brakes I have.

    Update:

I was able to remove the rust spots on the door by switching between clay bar , rubbing compound and a precision sanding pen. The spots are definitely down to bare metal.
I have the duplicolor, color match chip fixer pen thing. However the color is no where near matching. The reviews seemed pretty good on it though.
The Dr colorchip I ordered came in yesterday, hopefully that works better.

Bummer.sorry it turned out that way .. I Kinda figured it would be what it turned out to be. And there is no and I mean no color match pen or paint. Every paint being mixed off the paint bank needs to be mixed and tinted to what your car has faded to no matter what color, also has to be spayed and blended well to fool the human eagle eye. If your really good at tinting and have no color definition you can get lucky with either match, but rare. I’ve have only seen one man capable of that in my 20 years of my body working profession ...

I assumed it wouldn’t match either but I had my fingers crossed. The spots aren’t noticeable so I may just apply clear coat to protect it and call it a day.
