What thread pitch are the bolts? I might recommend sourcing stainless hardware, or at least applying galvanizing paint to the replacements. Otherwise it’s just going to happen again.

Ok, took the rear drivers door panel apart, attempted to remove the t30 bolt, it broke just like everyone said. The exterior retaining threaded insert style bolt apparently rusts and swells. This cracked the plastic interior handle base. I’m ordering a new base. I will update what the retaining nut insert it comes with. I do not think it has what OP bought for a nut, it appears chamfered on 2 sides. Not saying they won’t work, but it does not look like a round one.

Replaced the door handle base. The nut insert is only available with the handle base ~$80. Th OP's parts will not work on 3rd Gen.

I need to replace my drivers side handle on a 2017 Offroad, did yours had the touch button lock on the handle? I am not sure if the 2nd gen's had that. Maybe it only works on rear and passenger doors. Did you also get a 2nd gen handle for the drivers side?

This is great news! My 2016 (Silver) has the same problems. Can I ask what the cost was to have the dealer resolve issue? Thanks!

    Yes please!
I live in SoCal and have this issue also. If I remember it started out more a black streak and seems to have turned more rust color over the years.
