So I got my Taco about a month ago. I am becoming attached. I want to keep it nicely maintained. I got my weather techs, and am going to decide on seat covers shortly.

I am concerned about the frame rust issue. I live in NJ and travel around NY state alot. I dont live by the beach, but we do get snow and they do salt. Didnt happen yet but it will.

Ive never gotten it done on my Jeep, but I have basically had that thing since I was a youngin and have learned how to work on and maintain a car with it. Its a '99 and nothing is rusted through, but I can see a few problem areas when I get under there these days. I would like to avoid this with my nice new truck.

I called the only place remotely close to me that I could find that did rust undercoating treatment, Ziebart. They wanted to charge me something crazy like $700. I mean I guess that is for a thorough job, he says he is booked the whole month of January. Is this price nuts? Do people pay this yearly?

How much worse of a job am I going to do watching a few you tube videos and getting under there myself? What is a good product? Are there parts I should definitely not spray? If it doesnt snow that much will I be ok just religiously taking it to the carwash twice a week if I buy unlimited washes?

Anyway, thanks for any advise. I wasnt really finding a general tread about this and thought other noobs might be interested too. Thanks.
