I've got a nice little 95 extra cab that's developing surface rust above the wheel wells. The fenders behind the rear wheels are rusted out though. I have a price to repair the rusted out parts, do some body work and a fresh paint paint job but I've been told once the surface rust starts it doesn't stop. I'd prep it myself and sand off the surface rust but I'm wondering if it's worth it. The truck has 103k and is tight.

Not sure about the not stopping bit. Don't have a lot of experience with rust removal but I'm fairly certain rust is 100% prevented with sprays. As long as the metal isn't exposed to oxygen it can't rust. I think if you just sand it and spray it you'll be all good.
