    Hello,

New menber to tacoma. I am considering buying a 2009 AC however i need your opinion regarding the rust. The frame was inspected (not by a toyota dealership) and was cosidered to be in a great condition however i need your opinion since i am new to tacoma.

    More photos please.

From the one frame rail photo, I would look at other options if there are anything better.

Another option was suggested a tacoma 2002 that has LSC TACOMA FRAME ~|~18 DAYS OF RENTAL in 2012 and went from the snow area after 5years frame replacement. My friend did not inspect it yet but have 212 K miles

Thank you for the quick reply. These are the photos that i received. The guy who inspected told me i should not be concerned coz it on the surface and it has been off the snow area for 4 years however i am not convinced that this rust is fine even from surface is good. And that it is very clean especially that it is only 90Kmlies (145k KM since it is from Canada)

inside of the frame rails by the cats, hammer test would be best
the T-case and rear dif bolts aren't all crusty, that a good sign
the inside rust loos like it could be the seat bracket got contaminated from shoes
    this looks sus

Which areas should i ask for pictures of? If you can mark them on a frame picture it would be great.

as to the 02, can't say without looking
and this 09, the seat looks soiled in the pics

in either case ether will need the undercarriage treated with an oil undercoating like Fluid Film, Krown, Wool Wax, ect.

Ask for a photo of the rear bumper/tow hitch from the underside/rear diff perspective.

I know that Toyota when they do the frame recall (yes I know yours was private individual) that the rear tow hitch was not changed.

Also ask photos of the ENTIRE frame rail like mine. A wide shot.

The fact that the photos they have provided you are close up shots. It’s an obvious sign that they are cherry picking spots, cropping images etc. and trying to make the sale.
I’ve experienced it when looking for a car out of province, and in province too.

To me that frame doesnt look bad at all. My issue with that truck is this......you know you are selling your truck but are to frickin lazy to run a shop vac or drag a wet sponge over it? That tells me you were also too lazy to change fluids and perform other normal maintenance in a timely matter. Just how I feel. Life's too short to buy a neglected vehicle, unless you have mad mechanics skills and love a challenge.

Zoom in on the bottom of the frame rail.
Looks to me like it’s starting to delaminate.
    Common issue on these trucks.

The frame is sandwiched together in 2 pieces.
Water and moister set in there and rust starts, eventually opening up the frame.
