I love my 2006 tacoma but discovered the rear cover needs to be replace it is rusted through. Is there any secrets on cutting it off and welding it on. Thanks in advance

Might be easier to find one in a salvage yard. I don't have any good response for the repair. I'm sure others will be along soon.

I don’t believe Toyota sells that as a weld in part. You’ll need a salvage axle housing assembly.

I agree that getting the entire assembly from a salvage yard is going to be the best option here but I'm curious what the rest of the truck looks like in terms of rust. Has the frame been replaced?

I know there is an aftermarket weld in replacement. That stated, if you are at the point of the middle rear housing has rusted through, the rest of the axle housings integrity would be questionable IMO.

I won't mess around trying to repair it, find one these or a complete rear end. This one is in my garage but I'm guessing your not close to me. 20210314_172823.jpg

Would like to thank everyone response. I need to figure out my path forward. I live in upstate ny and the frame is not in the best condition so is it worth doing major reconstruction or just jb weld it to get a couple more years out of it. Again thanks all

Jb weld it until you can do the whole truck right. Otherwise you’ll be opening an expensive can of worms.
