So I have an extremely rusty truck unfortunately and the other day my exhaust decided to break off at the muffler on the tail end. I'm wonder how much it will cost to replace. I was hoping to just replace the whole thing. What options do I have? I don't know much about exhaust systems. Doesn't have to be loud or anything just something fairly inexpensive. Thanks everyone.

    Hmm . . . none as yet, that's why i'm here . . .
Leave it as it is. Mine broke off in the same place as yours about a year ago. Still sits that way.

That doesn't hurt the engine or anything?

    Evening

Check Rock auto. They may have a muffler for $100. Also check Meineke, PepBoys, or Midas if in your area. They may have universal they can hang for cheap.

napa was around $100 when I checked. Drive it as it is for couple of weeks then spend your money if you feel you need to.

I'd recommend avoiding the inexpensive "Aluminized" muffler/assemblies sold at Advanced Auto, etc. I used an assembly to replace my OEM muffler and tailpipe section. Thing rusted out in under a year.

I think I'll just take off the broken piece and drive as is for now. If it doesn't hurt the vehicle I'm not too worried about it. I did see this and a couple others that I would consider later on. But would this be considered the one mentioned to avoid? Screenshot_20210701-195431_Chrome.jpg

Rock auto was sold out for the complete assembly. Unfortunately

The MBRP are going to be a bit louder. Extremeterrain.com has a video with sound clip. Don’t think that is what you are looking for.

I would hunt online for aftermarket direct fit replacement with a good warranty. They are easy to bolt on. Or check auto shops for the universal ones to see what they may charge.

Just don’t be that truck driving around years later missing parts like exhaust, mirrors, antennas, etc.:)
