As i understand it, there is a 12 year window from first use to get it inspected, CRC coated and inspected again to find a 10mm+hole. If you don't get the first inspection or decline the CRC then you forfeit the 12 year frame replacement.
In my case I had the old black CRC done in 2017 which made things worse. I brought it to the dealer in late 2018 to complain about the CRC. They found a hole and I got a new frame in early 2019. Had I not climbed under my truck to notice the bad CRC, my frame would have rotted and I would have missed the window.

Note: (regarding the rusty Chevy picture) - the frame must still be good enough to function.:D
Also - that's probably at least a 30 year old truck.
I have a 25 year old Ford (from the salt belt) that just recently developed a few questionable spots in the frame. Still not anywhere near ready to break in two.
But I still would buy another Toyota.

    Ok. Other options.

    1. Buy a Hyundai. Get it broken into/stolen by the Kia boys.
    2. Buy a Nissan. Have CVT grenade in a few years.
    3. Buy a Honda. Good cars. Ever hear about their late model A/C issues?

    List goes on and on.

Issues out there with every brand.
