I tried it tonight on a piece of ripstop tent fabric.

Testing out NeverWet on a piece of tent ripstop fabric. The campers shower box is simply masking off a portion of the fabric. The base coat has just been applied. Top coat will be applied in 30 mins....

Top coat has been applied. Cure time is 30 mins. Highest performance will occur after 12 hours...

There is a slight frosted appearance between the treated and untreated side
    [IMG]

It definitely works. We saturated the bag with a spray bottle. The untreated side got soaked, the treated side continued to bead. I'm pretty impressed. How long it last is the question.

Does it stiffen the material up any?

A little bit but not much. I only applied one coat of base and 2 light top coats. I'm sure the more coats the stiffer it would get but the fabric would still be pliable. I don't see the NeverWet cracking unless it was ridiculously thick. It has a rubbery feel to it when dry.

To my eyes, this is the sort of thing where we are going to look back in fifty years and say,

I'd like to try it in my wheel wells and the bottom of my fender flares. If it works like it says it does, then I suspect it would solve the snow/ice build up problem experienced each winter. No more need to periodically kick those crusted ice chunks out of the wheel wells that build up over time. The slush wouldn't stick/freeze to it. I read up on it and it does degrade after time due to abrasion. So re-application every so often may be needed.

    Reapplication will be needed frequently.

I did some reading on it a few weeks ago.
It won't survive washing or water spray.

I wanted to try the wheel wells and even the wheels, then go mudding and see what happens. It may be worth to apply before going on an off road trip. You will have the only squeaky clean truck when your done, but to some that defeats the point. Keep us updated. What does a can of this run for $$$???

I put some on the cement around my pool a few weeks ago. I just noticed today it is showing first signs of wearing out.

I am going to put on my snow blower and snow shovel.

Try it on a fabric that is expendable first. It has a yellow tint.

That would not work like you think.

You need the water to prevent friction.

So you would basically get a huge fiberglass burn from going down the slide.

I just got a bottle of neverwet one-step clear outdoors
and plan on spraying my softopper all over with it

    a) I need to finish seamsealing first with seamgrip

    b) need to wait for a non-windy day

I have tried it on some other stuff and when it dries it does't feel slippery
at all...so I think if I blast the softopper (especially back flap) it will stay clean
for a long long time. [probably don't even need seamgrip but i am going to
    finish that job first]
