So I have three cans of this stuff laying around and was thinking about using it to spray down the undercarriage before I fluid film it. Thoughts?

Your going to block the ability of FF to penetrate the metal.

so to fluid film the bottom of the truck I just should hit it with some water first, let dry and then fluid film it? I thought I read somewhere that people were hitting it with rustoleum before treating it with the fluid film

Painting it is one thing. I check mine every year. Ill rinse off the frame in the spring.I’ll sand and prep and paint yes. The But bed liner is so much thicker. I just failed 3 frames and they had zeibart rustproofing. Looked awesome until I poked holes in the frame. Salt gets behind through a scratch , an edge etc.
    Can’t dry out.

Maybe they were fixing any existing rust spots and then painting it with the rustoleum to protect the bare metal AND THEN spraying with FF (with time for the paint to dry in between ) I wouldn’t spray your frame or underbody with the Bedliner . You should fix as much of the rust , spray it with paint to protect the metal and clean the entire underbody good with a degreaser and then FF it

Is there any areas underneath that I should not spray?

The big gripe behind the bedliner products on the frame is that it hardens then can crack over time and allow moisture underneath. It’s why a lot of people, especially restoration guys, do not like hard coats over the top of preexisting rust. If water makes it’s way underneath then you are just generating a problem.

Besides that, the spray on Rust-Oleum Bedliner cans are crap. They clog like a MF. For cosmetic applications it’s good stuff but I’d leave it at that. Not sure about the roll on product.

Best bet is wire wheel surface crap, remove the rust as best as possible, hit with some paint, let cure for a good while, rewash the area to remove grime then hit with some rust protectant. At least in my amateur opinion that’s what I’d do. If there is no rust visible then there’s no point in spray painting it imo.

I really don’t spray the exhaust however you will get some on it. It will burn off.
Try stay away from the cats though.
    And the brakes...

Since The first fall in 2011. So like within 2 months of purchase.
I do it once a year in the fall.
I do however rinse off the excess road grime with a hose in the spring. Not a pressure washer.
Then over the summer I’ll dick around with the frame. I’ll check for flaking etc and what was said, sand, rust encapsulater then light finish with satin black. Let it dry till the fall and spray. I do not worry about slight road dirt etc. I spray right over it. Adds some meat to it...lol

I started using it on my dodge plow truck and when I could still move my toe adjusters by hand with all the salt I was sold. I use it on everything. Snowblowers etc.
My wrangler gets the same treatment

Yea I’m going to start doing mine with FF I think , this season I used Amsoil HDMP which not a lot of people use . So the results are far and few between and it kinda left me with questions as to how to reapply once everything is dirty under there . I also freaked out once I saw the NE salt and brine laying on top of the dry film it makes , it kinda left me worrying lol . I haven’t really crawled under the truck yet to check how it held up

Our frames flex. And I mean flex.
That’s why you will see a place that the paint looks popped off.
So once you repair the frame and spray, the FF never dries and flexes and moves moves with the frame.

April 16th to be exact... lol

Trying to figure out what you want to do can be a nightmare. So many different things to do.
The only advise I can give you is if it doesn’t feel right in your head, Then it won’t be right on your truck. Remember it’s your truck. Someone else can post about all the crap they do to their truck and they think it’s great. Most others, not so much. If you find out you don’t like it, can you put it back?
    Just throwing that out there.
    Enjoy the truck and site.
