I know someone who has a tacoma and apparently its pretty rusty but it has low miles, I want it my parents think its stupid, the person I know would probably give it to me for like 1,000 she's had it since it was new, she's kinda old now and drives a Nissan (ew nissans(I love Toyotas a lot)) and has no one else to drive it anyhow.

the way I see it is if it would last a couple years and buy it that cheap its a good idea, it would be like 500 a year if I kept it a little while then I could save up and buy a newer one and stay out of debt (also I could probably sell it after I'm done using it for more than 1,000 even if its rusty)

only problem is if its so rusty underneath would it be too dangerous to drive? like its not gonna suddenly snap in half... is it( I didn't look underneath the last time I was there I wasn't aware of the rusty Frame issues)

I am 18 and looking to buy my first vehicle/Truck and I am very anti-debt and financially concerned(if it doesn't make u money then don't use debt to buy it)

so what do you guys think? should I get this one and save, or buy a this single cab 2007 tacoma for 5 thousand ( I would put 3,000 down and pay it off early)

the truck is a 2002 to a 2004 (she doesn't know the exact age) 4x4 and it has no body rust

You can’t be anti debt and then buy a truck you can’t pay cash for(your second example)

Buy the most reliable 1k vehicle that gets to and from work safely, your on the right track wanting to be debt free, most 18yr olds want everything now. Stay on that debt free track and you’ll be loving life down the road retired early.

    Hmm . . . none as yet, that's why i'm here . . .
Its going to be a rust bucket, give it up.
When you're 40+ you will then understand that your parents did know a thing or two.
    Good luck.

I like your style, keep it up. Ignore the haters and the easily offended. Post pictures of that rusty undercarriage because anyone that tells you to not buy it when they don't even know how bad it is... post pictures.
Are you willing to work on it yourself to save cash? Somebody else's labor gets expensive quick. This is 2019, $2,000 debt is nothing especially if you plan to pay it off reasonably quick. Debt can be a tool to be used to get ahead, like a truck you can drive and then make cash on, or debt can be a horrible nightmare while trying to keep up with the Jones'. If the truck is saveable and you save it then it'll have a good resale value and when you're ready you can resell it and make cash off of it - after you drive the piss out of it.

My daughter worked 3 jobs while going to community college and state college. She graduated with honors from both and with zero debt from both. She also financed a $4,000 car while doing it. She paid for everything. You can't get and keep a job with no car very easily. Use debt intelligently and it can definitely work to your advantage.

your daughter sounds like a damn hard worker, I was planning on getting 2 full time jobs for 6 months to get enough money to start a business and invest in real estate, I just have no transportation to do it with and I didn't really want debt for personal stuff

She is and thank you. She arrived today in Tanzania to do an African safari. She works and plays hard. ;)
Her husband did the same type of thing with his college. He's now a Navy officer making over $8,500 a month when out at sea.

nope, I was going to go to college to be a doc at first then I read rich dad poor dad and decided to start a business instead and stay out of college for 8 years, I didn't even want to go for a business degree honestly, I respect college but I was only wanting money which isn't a great reason to be a doctor

bro rich dad poor dad is about not getting into debt for personal reasons, not going into debt to buy your dream car or dream house debt is good when it makes u money, I do not believe college will be a great return on my time and money. I am not discrediting college but as rich dad says you can not really make money if you are an employee due to the high taxes on your income, if you are a business owner you get taxed less and you work more. PERSONAL debt is how people get caught up in the rat race, now college can be a good investment or it might be a bad one (but being an employee with lots of debt for things you WANT like a house is never good), for my goals and aspirations it does not work for me. I want to start a business (using some manageable debt) this debt is not personal it is an investment

If the rust is not so bad it’s causing holes or cracks and the rest of the truck is premium, get the truck. Just have Toyota check the frame.

Debt is debt and college is not for everyone. I didn’t go to college and I own two business both of which are debt free. I owe no one anything. Using debt to make money does work, I just don’t believe in it. Debt makes you answer to lender first and you second. With debt you always have to be cash strong, because when it goes bad and it will in business if you owe debtors your loose what you have that all I’m trying to say. It’s just two different concepts of money. I enjoy knowing everything I’ve built is mine and I owe no one anything ie bank, investors etc. I wish you all the luck in the world with the business your starting. Best advice I can give is always remember you get out of your business what you put in.
