Honestly, I would say no. I have had both. I would definitely upgrade the lenses to the clear STI-R though.

I thought I seen @MESO say before suggesting to tune, maybe he’ll pop in

Would recommend the Sti-R, and have someone besides TRS tune them.

These are my RX350 EU projectors and Sti-R clear lenses. Sent them to user Nuvolari over on HID Planet for tuning.

So it sounds like the Sti-R upgrade is a go. Still not sure about the tuning. Seems like most do the tuning but not sure anyone can attest to the improved output from it.

I will most likely have the tuning done as I don't want to "wonder" whether it could have been better.

My apologies for the late reply. Thanks for the input!

Tuning isn't for output necessarily, more for sharpness of the cutoff and the color band on that cutoff.

I understand kelvin or color of the emitted light. Is color band of the cutoff a different thing?

The blue color on top of the cutoff, notice the picture that @SearArtist posted. Usually it's thinner and has more red and yellow colors mixed in at the edge of the cutoff. It does seem to limit how intense the hot spot is though which decreases how bright they are at long distances. Given they are much brighter than halogen it doesn't matter to most.

    I run CBH's with a 55w ballast...output is not a problem LOL.

The cutoff in that pic is around 50ft...so it is much more pronounced than it would be in a normal driving situation.

It is pretty sweet getting behind a white or silver van or truck at night, the cut-off looks pretty damn good

I did the same think with my Mini H1 7.0. Almost distracting being behind a white or silver van.
