My girlfriend is taking a travel job to Yuma, AZ and I was wondering if anyone is from there or has any information about the place. She will be working at the Yuma Regional Medical Center for thirteen weeks. We want a house or apartment near work, but in a good area. Thank you for any help. Also, are there any varmint or predator hunting opportunities there? Thank you again.

Well, Yuma isnt the most desirable place to live in Az... I'll tell you that. BUT, you are there at the River, the Dunes, some decent wheeling in the mountains around the Foothills area, etc. In Yuma, where the medical center is, there is definitely more, vs say the Foothills or other outlying communities. Varmint hunting.. absolutely. Coyotes are plentiful... and fun. Its about 2 hour 45 minute drive between Yuma and Phoenix.

It's also 2 1/2 hours to San Diego.
Look for a place that's after 24thst. There are some cool little places buy downtown but I wouldn't bother living there. Especially if she's working buy the hospital. There's some ok apt's on ave b and 24th which is right down the street from the hospital.

Shoot for Fortuna Hills. It's a bunch of old people so pretty quiet. I've been living in Yuma for almost two years and that's about all I know haha.

I haven’t been down there from Phoenix since Covid. It’s a dove hunting Mecca come September 1st. Other than that it’s a pure shit hole with not much to do but count spiders and cockroaches on the motel room floor until 5:30 when the next dove flight arrives…

Spragues gun store is the place that usually gets all the shotgun reps from Benelli to Browning…

I have found some odd rare wheel guns for my collection in the past in yuma. However most if not all the mom and pops gun shops are gone now.

The Mexico border at San Louis is not far so if yuh want to go hang near that area at 10pm you might see some crazy shit lol!!! Back in 89-90 I had to run down to Yuma with my unit to pick up some MP jeeps. We hit the border for tacos and on the way back around midnight it was prime time for border runners. We saw a rolled blazer in a farm field and several ejected folk in the weeds or corn field or what ever the f$$k they flew into. Now these days who knows what the shit goes on down there.

Yuma wouldn't be my first choice, but work takes you places that you may not want to go sometimes. My Uncle works for the Army Proving Grounds and my aunt is a teacher for special education. Hotter than hell in the summer

The Yuma Airshow should be taking place in February or March out at the Marine Base there. I've gone many times and never a disappointment either. If you've never been to an air show before, then look up what you can/cannot bring in with you. They have a section where you can pay to sit under awnings and such with food and drink provided. Otherwise, bring a chair and an ambrella with you.

    Hello Sir,

I am back in NC, but my girlfriend is still there for seven more weeks. I regret not meeting up. Maybe next time and thank you.

I spent my first 20 years of life in the Foothills out there. Nothing to do but ride dirt bikes in the desert unless you were a tweaker.
Still have friends and family there but i don't go back often.
