S&B Cold Air Intake for 2016-2021 Toyota Tacoma 3.5L

Watched a few videos and some research. Most of the aftermarket enclosed systems do pretty well. S&B makes some really good filters. I have aftermarket carbon fiber intakes that run S&B filters on my cars.
There is no extra chamber. It uses standard hole in the fender an extra optional one on the front to pull in fresh air, see my pictures.

Pablo8 was offering good deal on these. To good to pass up.

 

This does not fit if you have Spiker Engineering hood struts, had to take the passenger side off to get hood closed.

Ok, need to trim a little on that side then reseal so its not sucking hot air. It was tight, real tight getting holes lined up. SB needs to remold it for 2020 model and hood strut clearance.

Dont get me wrong, this is a nice kit, opens up the air flow nicely. Has a nice growl now not too loud, no drone.

Getting a Borla pro xs installed today to finish it out. Both these mods will help with throttle response and low end torque.

 

Hey all. I think there was some confusion, I am planning on modding the intake to accommodate the strut. Not sure if the trimming route is going to work.
My plan is to install 2 solid spacers under outboard side of the body of the intake with longer bolts, to “tilt” the intake. I will also need to purchase a longer intake to body silicone hose to make up the gap when the “tilt” is established. Hopefully this will do the trick.

 

I wound up moving the top strut mount over towards the fender about a half inch, just clears the box.

How does this compare to the KN63?

The KN sounds great at 2-4k rpm but if you floor it or go 5-6k rpm the sound and droning do get a bit excessive. I would love an intake that doesn't get much louder at WOT but keeps that low end burble, but it's probably impossible lol..

 

S&B makes the best aftermarket CAI systems, no comparison with K&N

 

found one for $140 near me. Will order a new dry filter from the website. Wondering if i was hallucinating or this filter also offers a scoop that routes in front above the radiator. I didn't see it on the website but I thought a member do that.
