Last night I was driving my Tacoma and decided to try the downshifting which works quite well. Anyways, I forgot the truck was still in 2nd gear when I accelerated and did not notice the high revs for about 30 secs, as I had the radio on. So my engine was revving quite high for a short period. Will this do any damage to my engine? I was going about 65km/hr.
    Thanks

You'll be fine... one time I drove 75+ for 40 or so miles not realizing I was still in S-4 from driving in the mountains earlier. My trans and engine temps were still in the 200-range. no harm. wouldn't do it again consciously but it's more resilient than we give it credit for sometimes.

I've done the same thing, I'm sure everyone does at least once.

I drove about 400 miles at 70+mph in S4 because the head winds were so strong + mountains. No issues at all. I've learned you just need to get used to having to thrash this engine to have any power on the highway, easily sits at 2500-3krpms without issues... or at least nothing has come up yet.

    Totaled it.

But seriously, it's a Toyota. The ECU knows what's going on. Short of draining fluids you couldn't kill it if you tried.

It would override the s mode to save the tranny/motor if needed, the ecu would save it. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I'm sure I saw the top speed in 2nd is right around 100km/h. You were well under that.
