add a fuse on the drivers side fuse box. I have the larger size that fits the driver side switches.

I've had one of those for a couple of years, waiting for a chance to get into the wiring to fit it. I'd agree that the quality is OK but not more.

How bright is yours when installed, @idriveabox? From bench tests it looks like the red display on mine might be brighter than I'd really like.

It’s bright. I would mount it low out if the way. Mine is beside the rsca button and the wheel blocks the light.

Thanks to evanair... I just ordered one and I hope (don't think) it'll fit where a blank is in the panel on the left side. (fog light switch maybe). It should provide better protection against interference with other systems as I looked at the exploded diagram of it, much better than the cheap lighter plug USB adapters. Ordered the red verse.

They’re available to fit both the left-side switch and center console switch openings, and those two spots aren’t the same size, of course.

my cheap cig lighter version shows voltage, charges whatever is plugged into it, makes no noise on stereo, has not interfered with any other systems and started no fires. same thing as the permanent installed switch blank type, only I can unplug it and use the port for other things or just shut the flipcap and not use it. Simply a whatever floats your boat situation. I have both types. Nothing wrong with either choice.

I use the right 12v outlet with the Garmin nuvi 1350, but for charging a phone while traveling thought it would be nice to have a USB port somewhere. I don't use my phone while driving, but check the recent calls list when I'm not occupied with activity. There's always something going on outside the truck worthy of attention.
A large reason to pay attention: A commercial fisherman I knew in Cordova, Alaska lived in the Mat-Su Valley and had a nice T100. The following spring he showed up for the gillnet season with a much heavier lifted Chevy and explained that he'd hit a moose in the dark between Palmer and Anchorage. Moose eyes do not reflect headlights, so it's a dark object in darkness. That long nearly flat highway commute runs through the Palmer Hay Flats, a very wet and good moose grazing area. Watching moose near I-90 (and the traffic) is one of the spectator sports in the area of Pinehurst, Smelterville, and Cataldo, Idaho... I enjoy the 2009 Access Cab, "Barcelona Red" thanks to two years of Spanish in high school at Grand Forks, North Dakota. Barcelona Red was among Dad's specs for his last truck, and his specs matched my own.

Just looking for an update on this. Of those who've installed this port, are they still working???
