its not true. he will not even bother robbing the place to begin with. its the main reason people open carry, its a huge deterant. MR. Joe robber trying to get 200 bucks from the local 7-11 gonna blast me cause he sees my gun without hesitation? LOL. You say he would if he was smart. I say he would if he is stupid.

yeah you right it dont really matter. Gotta figure even if he does see it and decide to do something about it, he is shortly gonna be one very very dead robber anyway =)

I carry a Kimber Ultra CDP II in .45 with a 3" barrel. Maybe because the 1911 is the frame I started out with in the Army I have always been comfortable with it. The CDP gives me a comfortable carry with huge stopping power and 8 rounds.

IMHO, in terms of the accuracy of any weapon, it's only as accurate as the person firing it. A short barrel is more limited in range but a typical concealed carry situation is going to be within 20 yards. I practice at 25 and 50. Can I consistently hit a bull's eye at 50 or 25 with the 3"? Nope. But this isn't a target pistol. Can I consistently hit a sillhouette somewhere in center mass at both ranges? You bet. And, in reality, that's all I need to do. I need to hit the target I'm shooting at.

In the end, what you carry should be about what weapon fits you best, what one gives you the most confidence in your ability to hit your target and what one offers the most consistent reliability. Again, IMHO, if you are investing in a weapon that may someday be needed to protect your or a loved one's life....I'd invest in the most reliable and very best quality weapon I could afford.

Actually, for a while, I was actually carrying a Czech military vz.82 in 9X18mm until I saved up to buy my Kimber. I put a lot of rounds through that $250 pistol and never had a misfire.

Just offering my own $.02 - what works for me might not for you.

Great discussion and some great options here!

I think that's one of the most critical pieces of the equation and consideration for a personal carry weapon. You may literally be counting on it to save your life - don't buy what someone els likes, buy what works best for you.

I personally dislike a long-pull trigger - and absolutly hated when the Army went from the M1911A1 to the Beretta M9 (92F). The longer trigger pull - at least for me - encourages my to jerk the trigger, especially in rapid fire. I never scored as well in qualification with the M9 as I did with the 1911. Was it actual or a mental block on my part? It doesn't really matter - the result was that (as a left-handed shooter) I tended to consistently pull left with the M9 and don't with the 1911.

So, I encourage people to try out as many pistols as they can for their personal carry. Don't buy one just because someone recommends it...and don't discount one because someone pans it.

that's a given, yeah i love my 1911 trigger compaired to say a long DAO trigger but i also dont wanna fiddle around with a saftey when the time comes to draw, personally i carry a G26 cause i compete with a similar gun (G34) and shoot both very well

yea the BG does has a retarded long trigger pull. I usually start out with that one at the range and then switch over to my xd service model and its like going from a 93 civic hatchback to a 2010 cadillac

My dad finally found one in stock locally and bought it. We're going out shooting tonight to try it out. Looking forward to putting some rounds through it.
