First things first, I LOVE my 3rd gen Taco and have driven around the states comfortably in it. The Taco really shines where the pavement ends. On road, well, that’s another story. Either way, I ain’t parting with it any time soon. With all that said, I needed something else to have fun with. I’ve been living in Colorado and California back and forth, I don’t drive to work at all, and I only drive for fun. I’ve owned 20 enthusiast cars since 1998 and the only car I regretted selling was a bone stock Honda. Yes, a Honda.

I decided that I needed to find a “time-capsule” S2000 before the values got too out of hand. I cannot explain how fun it is to drive one of these in stock form. You just laugh while driving because it makes turning a riot. I started my search knowing I could store it in Southern California under a cover in a garage, and take it out when I need to “get away.”

Using the power of the internet, I located a beautiful example in Houston, TX. They were advertising it for top-dollar because they “knew what they had.” Lol. It was bone stock, had only been serviced at one single Honda dealer, and had merely 14k miles on the odometer. All vin tags from Honda were in place, no rust or corrosion damage being a gulf-states car. Everything was perfect. Negotiated a price that was fair that wasn’t too far from original MSRP(!!!!). Knowing that I was gonna take the car to California and not Colorado, I briefly gave consideration to towing it on a trailer back west. If I was taking it to Colorado, I absolutely would have trailered it. Colorado roads are unforgiving.

Drove it back from Houston to San Diego without incident, although I may need a chiropractor now. I’m 38 and that car was still almost too much for that distance. Getting out at the gas station was a chore after 400 uninterrupted miles. Enough B.S., this is what has joined my Taco..

    CLIFF NOTES:
    One owner
    14k miles
    Never modified
All service records from one dealership
    Flew halfway across country/drove home

A little of this and a little of that.
Very nice S2000. These are/were great cars and you certainly have a gem. Enjoy.

Those are going to be highly collectible cars in the future... and likely already are, for all I know. Just like the older Supras and NSXs - they are only going to go up in value.

    Great find and enjoy it!!

The values have gotten ridiculous. I didn’t wanna be “priced out” of finding a flawless example. Basically, I didn’t wanna spend my days on ‘Bring A Trailer’ wishing I hadn’t waited. This car is lucky I found it, as I’m a bit obsessive with care. I’ll drive it, but also enjoy the hell out of it.

The issue is finding one that’s not been riced out and beat to death. My dentist has a bone stock one. Good find on that

Miss mine sometimes, ended up selling it years ago after I got to the point where I was only putting 500 miles on it a year.

The grey one? It looks great. I totally understand about not using it and wondering why to keep it. I’m at the point where I already know it’s gonna be there for the rare occasional on-road getaway. I have owned a stupid list of fun cars, and it’s the only “ex” I thought about ever again.

    Cheers

Here is my ap1, only 90k on it. Bought new by my mom and I bought it off her a couple years ago. Weird thing is that my size 14 work boots are not an issue with the pedals whereas I cant drive my toyotas without hitting brake /clutch at the same time.

Put a toe kit on it, clutch, and titanium valve keepers.

Yep the one in the front. For me it was the fact that I could sell it for what I had paid for it.

Here’s mine... 04 with 55k on it. Bought it in 06 with 5k and added the HT a few years after. She sleeps in the garage under a Honda cover and sips the battery tender most days.

In our area there were a lot of trophy wives driving these. Don't see many anymore though.

I autox'd against a few. On a technical course it took contentious thought to keep it in the power band, but a good driver with sticky tires could do really well.

The gearbox is the BEST manual of any manual I've had the pleasure to row.

Took a year to find this car. 08 Rio yellow pearl AP2 s2k. Got it 6 years ago from the original owner with 42k miles. The owner was a Grandma who also had a 2009 Chicane silver s2000 with 3k miles on it. Her and her husband picked up the 2nd one when they found out the s2k was gonna be discontinued. So glad we got the yellow one. It’s my favorite color. Cars got 70k+ miles on it now. It’s been a joy to own. Cars stock except for some Euro spec floormats and an OEM hard top.

Damn 14k mile chicane? Good find!

I was looking for awhile, but wasn't too happy with everything I saw being listed here in SoCal.
