    Hello All,

I am a new member up in Washington State. After years of various trucks I am going back to my roots and looking for a Toyota Tacoma. I drove a 1982 4WD for fifteen years and loved it. I am looking for a 4 door DCSB and having trouble finding one in my budget up here. I am coming to Davis in a couple of weeks to help my father move out of his office (he recently retired from UCD) and thought I would look for a truck while I am there and think about driving it home. I have seen a couple of options on craigslist. Is there a better place to look? Is there a good mechanic in the Sacramento area that would do a pre-purchase inspection for me? Thanks for all your help.

You can go to toyota dealership and have then do an inspection on the one you find. Thats what i did well worth it. They found cracked rotor and wheel bearing bad. I was able to talk the seller down 2 grand to cover the cost of fixing everything that was needed.

Thanks. Is there any dealership that is better than the others or are all the service departments pretty comparable? Appreciate the help.

That's not bad for shop prices, is that including parts, or no? I would do it for $100 plus parts, & u can watch.

thats just labor. I still need to get the parts.

$100?? I think you have a deal! I'm going to start gathering the parts...well, 2 ball joints that is...lol

Im not sure if my axle boot really needs to be replaced. It leaked a little bit then it stopped. no rips at all. Looks like the clamp may have gotten loose and moved the boot a little (hope that makes sense)

I can lend a hand too, hand you tools, hand you beer, etc....lol...i'm not too mechanically inclined, i can only do simple stuff like oil changes and stuff

What would you charge to replace water pump/timing belt/idlers/crankshaft/camshaft seals, thermostat, belts. Lower ball joints on left and right side as well as radiator hoses and sway bar end links.

the axle boot can be re clamped if its in good condition, I have a cv clamp tool that will fix it.
If your serious about getting some work done let's talk, pm me when ur getting close that way we can set up a time.

I sure will bro. I would like to get it done hopefully this month. Do you get discounts on parts or should I just run down to napa and grab the parts? You think Moog is ok? or OEM? OEM is $$$$$$$
