I might go back to skiing. We'll see. But with droughts and the ridiculous expense of gear and fuel etc. and crowds, meh. I'd rather take him mountain biking or hiking. But we'll see, you never know what their friends will get them into, and I'll support most anything he wants to try. But not bungee or base jumping. FIL is a sailor with a 39 foot Catalina on the Chesapeake, and I used to sail Lasers as a kid in SF Bay. Lots of fun, plus cool, old school skills involved. I could definitely get into that, and they do classes up at Lake Natoma/Folsom. But sailing Lasers isn't exactly physically relaxing.

Not from the area but going to be visiting in a few week for work. I am coming a weekend early with a friend to hit up some breweries. We are determined to visit Russian River in Santa Rosa for some Pliny. We are staying in downtown Sacramento for the weekend and planning to visit several of the breweries around. Then Roseville for work during the week.
Are there any breweries between Santa Rosa and Sacramento worth stopping at? Also anything around Roseville? We have to turn our rent car in at 3 on Sunday in Roseville so if anyone can recommend places near the Galleria to check out that would be great. We can Uber around if needed. Mostly looking for breweries/beer pubs, good bottle shops, or cigar bar.
I was told to tag @scocar in this post since he might know of some places.

Dont forget Lagunitas in Petaluma. You'll be driving right by it on your way to/from Russian River

We covered Lagunitas. Sierra Nevada. Third Street Aleworks and Bear Republic in PMs. :D

Told him lunch at Lagunitas would be a good thing to do.

Mendocino Brewing Company is up north from Santa Rosa also but not sure what they offer.

Track 7, the original, is 10 minute walk/20 minute crawl from my house. Awesome beer.
Oak Park Brewery is about a year old and doing some very nice beers.
New Helvetia is on Broadway, also worth a try.
Rubicon, one of the original and around for 20+ years, downtown on Capitol.

Auburn Alehouse is pretty good too, only a few minutes up HWY80 from Roseville.

A few others...and more ideas for some downtown areas to hang out, eat, etc.
Fox & Goose has been around for decades, English pub. My buddy and I spent many many many hours there when in college with live music and huge parties and open mic night. Not the same as it used to be, but worth a try.

There's also Streets of London on J, and Bon Lair further down J.

deVere's is a newer Irish pub on L very close to the Capitol on L in a pretty lively area with other restaurants and clubs

Shady Lady on R street does really good cocktails, sort of a speakeasy style place, lots of fun, and that whole block on R street is pretty lively, live music club there too. Burgers and Brew is awesome. Same spot, huge selection of beers, usually have Pliny on tap.

Zocalo on Capitol is a nice, high Mexican restaurant with a good bar and in a busy area with lots of restaurants.

Jesus, I havent' been getting out much lately...

All sounds great! Feel free to join us for a beer. The 24th and 25th is when we will be trying to drink the town dry.
