No prob. I might even have some left over in my garage. I can't use it any more in my new truck. I try to remember to take a look.

Totally forgot about that place. There is one in Folsom I am going to try. Thanks for the post... I used to go to the Loomis location back in the day when I lived over there, but haven't been to one since I moved.

Hello Sacramento Members, i'm new to the forums and just bought a new Tacoma. I have a 17 Off-Road Double Cab and plan on leveling the front with Bilstein 5100 Shocks to fix the Taco rack. Do you know of anyone local that has this set-up or similar? Id love to ride in it to see if the setup is something that i like before pull the trigger and purchasing a set. I live in Folsom and am willing to meet ya and will throw in some beer money. Thank, Barra

5100 on my 2nd gen with ebiach lift springs was like riding a horse buggy. My kiddneys hurt thinking about it. Lol. Jk but seriously there stiff. But all lifts will be if your running extra weight up front they have to be.
If your using stock springs to get lift your preloading them. It feels more like a sports car with a stiffer suspension. I switched two a full coilover and its a better ride.

Thanks @jqueener . My brother has 5100's all around with the stock front spring and an aal on his 1st gen and it is way too stiff for what i want out of my Taco. The 5100's could be different in a 3rd gen and that is why i'd like to ride in someone's first before i can make a decision on which suspension route i want to go. I don't have any plans on lifting the truck just leveling it because i do motorcycle track days and having to load and unload my motorcycle can be a little sketchy.

If you say running a true coilover suspension will give me a better and softer ride then the 5100's then it seem like that is my best bet.

Thanks for the good info folks.

It sounds like you're interested in mainly billstein.... but with that being sad I ran OME 886 on my 2nd gen with a full leaf pack in the rear and it was amazing. It road nice and felt much better than oem.

I shall look into the OME 886 springs. Can i have you explain more on what you mean by your 2nd gen set up was "nice and felt much better then oem"? Was it firm? Plush? Stiff? Soft?

I've been a huge Bilstein Fan. Coming from 5 years of wrenching for an independent BMW Shop Bilstein has always been an outstanding product for me. Now that i have leaped into the truck scene i'm not sure what works well. Thru my experience, i've learned that you should do the job right the first time. If the 5100's or any other spring and shock combination doesn't please me then i'm willing to jump into the true coilover territory IF people really say its a "better ride".

    Thanks
    Barra

Of course. So I guess it really depends on what you call "better" because everyone has their own definition. For me, I chose the 886s because I put on a bumper (885 are the normal coils). The vehicle felt stiff and road like a truck, but during the bumps it did feel more pleasant than the TRD Sport factory suspension that I had previously. I went with Old Man Emu (OME) because they have a successful history and they are a solid Australian based company. I think there are definitely nicer (in terms of soft) suspensions out there, but I didn't feel like spending more than 2k for a whole setup. I have been in some trucks that have Kings/Fox suspension and they vary from soft like butter to riding on a brick, it just depends on how the valving is done. That is the one upside IMO in regards to a custom valved shock, whereas something like OME can't be used like that.
I agree, I think you just need to rid in some rigs to see what it is like and that'll give you a better idea. But again I think it comes down to how soft/firm you want it. I will say that after riding in some trucks with long travel, it was a fantastic ride. They absorb the bumps so nice and its like floating on a wave, but man they are squeaky as hell. Hopefully this helps a little bit... Feel free to PM me if you have any specifics and I'll help out as much as I can. I just picked up a '17 OR AC and live over in Citrus Heights.

Justin is right. The OME will be a nice upgrade. I had originally lifted with billys. It did the job. Then upgraded to kings. Night and day while offroad. On the street you could definitely tell as well. Like the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

    Good luck

agree with everything said above. although your in a third gen the suspension hasn't really changed from what I have read. its still the same design 4" of travel your just at a different ride height stock then the 2 nd gen stock. Now I could be wrong as a steer clear of the 3rd gen forums. Thats for you to learn about I can give to shits unless I ever buy one. Billys do the job for cheap, Old man emo I have lots of good things also a good cheap option. on the high end Kings have the most reviews here but icon was big last yr ,.
If your just leveling the truck maybe try just a lift spring and billys at stock height. less pre load will give you a smoother ride. I bought mine with billys on it and they were set to .85 with stock springs and the ride was nice.
when I changed the springs and bumped it up to the next setting it rode super stiff for about a yr.
