Yea, these are just some things that will hopefully deter them or slow them down a bit. Or possibly make them second guess going at it lol

A determined thief will get what he/she wants. Just try to make it difficult so they decide to get it from someone else - hopefully.

Why not just remove it when not going off road. Add roadside assistance to your insurance or get AAA for when your in town.
I try to just keep as little as possible inbthe truck 95% of the time.

Figured if it’s a jack I might as well carry it with me, and not a fan of waiting for road side assistance when I can do it myself.

Ive only had few flats in my 24 yrs of driving
And only 2 of them were in good tires the rest ofvthe tires were bald AF. And should of not been on the road. Like mentioned above a stock jack and block of wood will do just fine on the road. If your worried about theft, thats the way to go. Like said already, if they want it they will get it.
I never worried about my hi lift so it always stayed in the truck. But i dont live in the getto. Been there had lots if shit stolen and smashed windows, ect, ect.
So ive learned to keep as little as possible in vehicles that is visible. I get the not waiting around thing, but if you get that many flats i would say there might be a different answer.

I may have tweaked a few things...
I don't like carrying things I don't need, but then I often feel like I need a lot of things... I've always had a habit of bringing extra stuff 'just in case'. Riding a bicycle to work for 6 years helped me learn how important the right tools and gear are if you do want to be self-sufficient though.

A lot of people just say 'get AAA' and that is smart for a lot of reasons, but I still keep a bag in the truck with an impact driver, torque wrench, inflator, work light....

Those are things that theifs want, better to not worry about loosing tools then to worry about waiting on a tow truck or freinds to come help you out.now road trips and off roading different storybe prepared. But in the city to many theifs.
2 trucks broke into on my street in the last 30 days.

That's a really good point, and an expensive lesson to learn. Plus, my tools are battery-op so as the heat rises I won't be keeping them in the truck.

Also, my stock kit should get me through a wheel change so I can get home and retorque to spec.

I'm guessing they were all due for hydros?

We don't bother hydro testing anything less than 5# unless it's a clean agent

Exactly, most people just replace them rather than hydrostatic testing.
