I was asleep at like 7 last night

 

Wife kept me awake texting. They are heading to New Jersey to pick up a load of steel

Awesome story! I had been with a company from 2017-2022, had been looking internally for opportunities to move up the ladder, or at least move into new areas. Had no luck. And then they started "Ok, Covid is over, everyone back to the offices".... my wife, her parents and I had made the decision it was time to exit the political sewer of California, and that employer was based out of Tamps, FL, St. Louis, MO and Charlotte, NC. We didn't want to be anywhere near a city, so I left that company for a new opportunity: permanent work from home, Manager position, and a $25K a year increase in pay. So it was a no-brainer.

After I had been at the most recent company for about a year, they hired a new I.T. Vice President. Well, apparently he felt I had done such a good job of creating a new team and function for the company, that the team could continue without me, and he could look like he was saving the company some money by getting rid of me. Of a total of 6 people on my team, I was the only U.S. based person. So the other's were a lot cheaper for the company. For a short time, I allowed myself the scenario of "Things fell apart after they canned me, maybe the VP will see the error of his decision and ask me to come back". It didn't happen, of course......

I hear. I'm born and raised Cali. But can't stand this place anymore. Wife never liked it. She's Kentucky born and Indiana raised farm girl. Likes California weather, not much else. She's doing OTR trucking with her son now. For company based out of Indiana.

 

She wanted me to go back to driving truck. But it's not the same as it was. Besides I like a real bed and a shower every day. I make more doing this then in the cab of a truck. Problem is she was back at the family farm and now has adopted a farm pig over 200lbs. So yeah we need land in Texas to have all the dang animals she brings home.
