    *sigh*

Yea man I don't know. Love mine despite allllllll the hate. I bought the first model year of a major redesign; I know in my mind there will be problems. That is what warranty is for. I trade trucks so often that I'll most likely always be in warranty in whatever I have.

Tons of bashing on the turbo 4. I honestly love the engine and don't think it will be the issue on this truck. The other stuff is questionable. There will be no doubt many software updates. I have some quirks going on that will hopefully be released. I plan on servicing the truck every 6 months (oil change as well despite what the factory recommends).

Wireless Android Auto connectivity is about 50/50 mix of if it's going to connect correctly in the morning. You can quickly go into settings, select your phone, and turn back on the AA setting. It connects to my music just fine after that. Only 1 out of 100 times will it just refuse to do so and throw and error. All I do is hold the power down to reset the head unit. Going to talk to the dealer in October when I have its 6 month oil change.

The transmission programming is overall really good and leaps beyond the 3rd gens 6 speed auto. However, it seems really over zealous on the engine braking feature. I live in a very mountainous and hilly region so any little small hill decline and you let off the throttle it will downshift instantly. Kind of weird to be honest. Never any jolting, juttering, or shuttering like the 3rd gens.

I had to turn off the rear seat reminder and it seemed to have lost its shit one day and when I would tap the door to lock it, it would do its little lock beep waaay to many times. Finally figured out it was the rear seat warning, even though it has no sensors in those seats. Can be turned off through the cluster menu.

If you're like me and like the crack the window no matter what conditions don't do it after it has rained and your truck is wet. Something with the body/window/door design you will soak your door panel. Weird thing, I know.

Other than that, can't complain. Just got my worst MPG tank of fuel recently running the AC. 24.49 hand calculated. Not that bad honestly...

Meanwhile I don't tow anything and the option package I have has a brake controller. So, I went from having an Offroad not needing a locker, to an SR5 Upgrade with a brake controller I'll never use

Also, don't be scared of the new turbo 4. Toyota has been playing around with those for the past decade (let's not talk about the V6 twin turbo). But, I will say don't follow the 10K oil change thing like you do with your 3rd gen. Not like you probably plan on buying a 4th gen, but I know you're looking at your future options.

I'm not worried about the engine, I just think the price got a little stupid. If I were to get another Toyota I wouldnt even look at any trim above an SR5 :), but I'd drive a Nissan first and see whats up with that. The Pro 4x is like $41(ish).

I saw a thread where a dude paid $62k for a Trail Hunter and said he was 'lucky'. $62k for any Tacoma is not 'lucky' in my book. But I'm old so who the fuck cares....

So my truck, SR5 4WD with the upgrade package (JBL audio (worth it) heated seats, heated steering wheel, some other BS I can't remember) and all weather floor mats was around $46,760 TSP. Was able to get it for around $44,500 before taxes. The upgrade package is $3,750, I recommend it, but not needed if that makes sense? Winter gets balls ass cold and the heated seats are nice.

I cross shopped Tacoma and Frontier (I've owned two of them) and I honestly did not like the interior and tech at all on the Fronty. Engine/trans was pretty good, but the cabin I did not liked.

So a 'non-upgraded' SR5 could probably be had for roughly $40k if one were to shop around?
I honestly think in a year or two there may be some decent discounts to be had.

I heard the Nissan interior is kinda old school/shit but that doesnt bother me at all, I just want it to last for 10 years or so.

Looking at my local dealer, it looks like $43ish? Maybe it's my region, but you can't avoid that $585 heated seat charge looking at my local dealer (Maryland).
