This^. It's unfortunate but true, just too much of a waste of money for someone to so easily screw with or steal your stuff. If I didn't have a garage I would have never put ditch lights on mine. Even if they were cheap ones wouldn't be worth someone damaging my truck further trying to get them off. Light bars and ditch lights are easy steals nowadays. I personally don't like the bro roof bar look anyhow that's why I bought a bumper with a inside 20" light bar slot.IMG_8830.jpg

Only thing out in the open is my ditch lights and I only go to work and home in my truck, my work is gated also have a Uniden 250 dash cam for extra precaution. We take the wife's car on weekend errands. Sucks to hear OP your definitely not the first person I know that his has happens to. Best to just wait till you get a more permanent residence with a garage to keep your truck and goodies safe in my opinion.

I would highly suggest you do NOT use a firearm if you are living in one of these complex communities...

the laws are VERY different compared to living on your own private property...

    just my .02

very shitty having your belongings vandalized and stolen... I would go and try and speak with some neighbors and contact the complex corporate office first and foremost

    Update:

I filed a police report with the local PD. Contacting the management shortly. Anyone have any recommendations for a cheap China light to bait the culprit? Also, recommendations on cameras to catch the culprit.

ok, so clearly this is a highly debated topic with a lot of grey area leading to a lot of contradiction...

My use of the word LAW might not have been 100% appropriate, my original statement was intended as a general one as there are a lot of differences here with what state you are in and if you are renting or owning in the complex and exactly what the associations rules are in the fine print...

it is my understanding that after speaking with different law officials and home owners associations as well as reading fine prints on different peoples signed agreements that there is a general difference between protecting yourself in an apartment complex and protecting yourself on your own land property with a house and neighbors are with in certain distances.

this is a topic where I have tried to dig up as much info as possible in my years prior to owning, from forum discussions to legal proceedings there are tons of pages for the reading regarding my statement of "using firearm protection either in a complex or on your own plot of land"

zoning laws and the 2A contradict one another very much so...

Police do nothing, because they know the court system does nothing. That's why crime is so rampant.

Ever since they took religion out of the schools, morals have gone to heck.

You don't have to be religious to have morals
Blame the parents, not the schools.

All of the spraying of testosterone you might see here aside, if you shoot someone who isn't carrying a knife or gun over a ditch light your probably fucked, even if it's on your own property.

For sure, but I doubt anyone would actually open fire in a residential parking lot, especially toward their own vehicle. Pellet gun or paintball, maybe :D

Here in NH< it's just assumed everyone has a gun handy. Things like this dont; happen much on my street.

Salt pellet in the thigh seems like the perfect punishment. :D

If I did shit like this, I'd get a red handprint tattooed on my ass faster than anything. This shit is what happens when everyone starts witch hunting parents for spanking or whatever the fuck else. If a kid realizes he can get away with anything with no real consequences, they're gonna keep doing it.

Also lol at these gun posts.

You better be goddamn sure you're about to die if you shoot ANYONE because self-defense law is fragile as fuck when it actually goes to court

I don't think someone would shoot someone for a ditch light but if they did then the repercussions would follow I know I wouldn't do it....If your in that situation you better know the difference...
