I had a 94 Nissan D21 with 240k + miles on it. It would still burn em, get 20+mpg, and only needed a few replacement parts after sitting in a field for a year.

I went to test drive a Nissan Frontier, loved it, but the dealer wouldnt give me enough for my tacoma.

You can drive off the lot, a 270hp V6 4wd Access Cab Frontier 6spd for 23k. If I would have known that beforehand, I would have bought it instead.

Both are great trucks, I just happen to like that frontier better.

Great job on the 40K!! Good luck with your new frontier too!

Thanks for the comments everyone. I am still planing on posting over here as my heart is still Toyota. I have no plans on lifting this one. We plan on moving back to California and at that time I will buy another Double Cab Tacoma, and have it SAS'd. That is my plan. I walked out the door with this one for 23k or so, 35miles on it. When it comes time to get rid of it, I will sell it and have plenty of money to start the mods once again...

Already been talking to people over at TTORA about SAS and costs.. I plan spending around 30k on the SAS build on a brand new taco, will drive it from the dealer to the shop for SAS time :)

This will be my 2nd SAS for those who don't know me...

Thos I have to say, the factory radio kinda sucks, I will be installing a navi Piioneer after Xmass and a rear view camera.....

The folks over at Kuhio Motors took good care of me.......

Side note: Big thank you for the guy over at GM, but I received a better rate with another Leander....

(GM guy posts here, LOL he know of me)

It's my understanding that Tacomas are stupid-hard to get a hold of in Hawaii. If he built his nearly identical to what someone was looking for, they may have decided against waiting 3-6months and the shitty dealership (which I've heard is also a nightmare over there).

Do the new Frontiers still have the worn timing chain guide problem? Might be worth checking into.

I remember when my family lived on Oahu when my dad was stationed there, he went to Toyota on the windward side and saw his dream Tacoma sitting on the lot, and they had a ton more for sale. We sat in the dealer for almost 4 hours though since it was the first time they bought a new car from a dealership. Only issue with the truck was a missing tiny bumper piece for the center console top half which took forever to get a hold of.

Side note, I remember seeing all the Tacomas and Frontiers everywhere. Mostly Tacomas...everywhere.

The new owner really isn't getting ripped off. Figure it's a loaded Tacoma with a 35k sticker and easily $5k+ into parts and then shipping to Hawaii on top of the parts cost.

I've got 10k into mine and our trucks are very similar.
