Hello all. Taking my wife out on her first light off road trip to old NC 105. It is a dirt road with a few patches of old asphalt and bumps here and there. Would like to air down to 25 or 20 for comfort. I am running Toyo open country MT 285/70/17 on kings and 3 of lift. Are those safe pressures to not risk throwing a bead? Appreciate any feedback.

20 is no problem. She will do fine. Nice to see that shes using her accessorized truck for some 4 by action. Air back up to 31 for mall action.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
Leave them at 32psi. Chances are you aren't going anywhere that will need the lowered pressure. Hitting the sand dunes? Sure, I drop to 12psi and you could as well. But it sounds like modified mall crawling action, so no changes needed. Just watch out for pinstriping trees.

You can go to those pressures no problem, but keep the speed down. You don't want to run anything close to fast at low PSI.

From what I have read, it is a dirt forest road with some sections of the old asphalt left over. A few recomended airing down for comfort. My wife had a spinal fusion a few months ago, figured it would help make the 25 mile drive smooth as we will be sight seeing Lindell Falls etc and checking out the disbursed camp areas nice and slow. Starting in the north going down then coming back up. It is called Old NC Highway 105. Nice videos on it out there.maybe do 25 and see how it feels?

You can go down to 12 to 10 psi, you may pop the bead on the tire/rim/wheel at lower pressures and the gas mileage is gonna take a big dump.

Haven’t needed one yet, all in due time! Finally got around to installing a light bar in the bumper two weeks ago lol

10 psi down feels like a Cadillac haha

only reason I don’t go further is I have a slow compressor and it takes foreeeever to get back to 30

I would be a nervous wreck at 10. Getting the hi lift out to reseat a bead is not an experience I want lol. I may do 20 or 25 haha!

I ran my Tundra's 275/70R18 tires down to 23 PSI for Imogene Pass, and it was at no risk of breaking the bead with that fatty truck. I'd say you're likely safe to do the same, but I didn't go much over 20 MPH that low.

Can easily do 18 psi for a nice cushy ride.
