If you're paying for it yourself - absolutely. If your insurance company is paying for it - you have to ask them.

I recently had the windshield in our 2021 4Runner replaced and I requested OEM glass to be installed at a shop I trust. Although the insurance company grumbled (they wanted Safelite glass and installation), they eventually agreed.

Glad you bit the bullet OP. Honestly, Safelite like any Franchise is only as good as your local Franchisee/Location, but they'll usually stand by their results regardless. I've had mid results in the past, and yours is not acceptable. But I have to say that I'm blessed to have a really solid team where I currently live. They've done replacements on my Taco and my Audi. Importance is talking with them, and they were more than willing to discuss options on OEM, OEE, etc. as long as you chat. If you take the time, they're more willing to commit their time. When I got my new to me Taco, windshield was already replaced once and it looked like crap. However, I have to say this branch did a solid job all covered under insurance.

Update: I was able to take the morning off to get this fixed under warranty. The guy comes out and says: the glue hasn’t had enough time to dry so if I tried to take it off now, it would smear glue all over the place. We should come back in at least another week.

Welp, there goes another wasted day due to Safelite
