Safe speed with the locker engaged.

Hi, i have my prerunner and use my locker almost everytime i go offroading.

I know the little badge on the interior of the drivers door says not to go faster than 5mph with the rear locker on. But i doubt u have to go that slow right?

I have probably been up to 15mph with it on. Is that bad?

If not....whats a safe speed to keep it under?

Because sometimes i like to get some speed going up a tough hill since i dont have 4x4.

wow. ok. Then i guess i dont need to worry. Is it safe to have on when for example your going up or down a trail to get to wherever offroading spot your headed too? since you are turning and going fast? I havent tried yet.

See this is why this site is so amazing.. I was just thinking of this question and look, someone asks it. I feel I want to cry sometimes. Not really though.

 

Only use it off pavement. Engage it when your fully stopped. Other than that you can use it however you like. I've read of the desert guys using at speeds of 60+mph

Ive done freeway speed from Hilsboro to Seattle with locker engaged. Its fine. But you will notice it on dry pavement, very much so.

I take such good care of my baby, but every now and then I just have to abuse her.

 

I've gone like 50 with it on in sand. No problems.

 

I think the fastest I've gone with it on is 55. You can go however fast your concious let's you!!!

you just need to be no faster than 5mph to engage it, but once locked, whew...

i think fastest i have gone offroad with the locker on, was 63mph...

I've done 35 with the locker on. Kind of hard to control the vehicle then. Well, not exactly hard, but different.

 

offroad, there should be no difference...

on streets, then yes, but hopefully you aren't using it on streets...
