I used them ONE time, and they fucked up my A pillars down to the metal. I complained, and they sent a guy out with some news paper, and Rustoleum, and he spray painted it. If it wasn't for beating my truck off road, I would have rung their necks. I would never recommend them. Just because your insurance recommends them, doesn't mean you are locked into using them.

I used them about a month after I bought my truck.. I was all worried that the glass wouldn't be the same and I'd see waves in it and etc...the piece they put in it was the same as the one they took out....I am very happy with them...

safelite is awful. they did a windshield in my explorer. not only did they improperly prep and install the windshield, causing rust then subsequent cabin leaks but they gouged the hell out of my paint. I would not use them.

have the insurance company pony up for the dealer to do it, the dealer will sub it out, but now the dealer is on the hook for issues....

Should I get a new windshield or have the chip repaired?

I've had a chip repaired and I was satisfied with the work. Can't comment on their work for a windshield replacement though.

I've used them once on the taco and three times on my Durango (seemed to be a chip magnet) and no complaints. And hey, there's always several techs around - what's it hurt to kiss up a little and say hey, it's a new truck and I'm kinda upset, could you please send out one of your more experienced techs please?

Insurance company uses Safelite cause it's cheap. Talk to your agent and see about using someone else. I had an owl hit my windshield last year. Insurance was pushing Safelite. I flat out refused and had to stand my ground with the agent. I ended up paying the difference at first but when I threatened to change insurance companies, they covered the cost. Keep in mind I had everything through them cars, home, and life insurance. No claims in the 8 years with them.

I would have the chip repaired first, you can't beat the OEM glass and if you don't like it have it replaced later.

That's what I am going to do. Talked with the dealership, they have a guy been doing it 25 years. Its pretty small.

Toyota's gonna take one look at your truck and say you caused wheeling. Good luck though.

I've used them to repair several spiders and replace two windshields (an xB and my Tacoma) in the last 5 years or so. Stellar service and results every time. Came to my job and performed the work. Washed my windows and vacuumed out my vehicle every time. I'm a happy customer
