Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
I had two broken leaf's on my truck. I would say that was my fault, not Toyota's.

I had one snap just pulling out of the parking lot at work. Toyota told me to buzz off with my 120k mile truck so I bought general spring replacements. should have got the HD ones but I didn't. But the dealer I get parts from said they would still put springs in my truck because I got the recall letter. So I'm waiting until they are available before I put my 5100's in the front. Maybe I'll be able to get a free alignment too...

So does anyone know if they will reimburse people who want Dakars instead of oem

FWIW, NHTSA website mentions us getting new leaf spring assemblies too:
    REMEDY:

Toyota will notify owners and dealers will install new rear leaf spring assemblies. The interim notices were sent out in late November 2014. A second notice will be mailed when parts become available. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.

No real new info here, they have been replacing springs all along if they are currently broken, states they will notify when parts are available, still not sure what those "parts" are going to be.

I still don't have high hopes... Sorry buddy... I'm guessing the listed remedy only applies to broken springs...

Heard today they will be making a 4 leaf spring pack. Again, not official just relayed from the service manager.

My frame is due in march

Recall involves 690,000 Tacomas. If new leaf springs is the fix it will be a hefty price. If only 350,000 got the fix and if it cost Toyota only $200.00 per truck the cost would be $70,000,000. I'm sure more than 350,000 out of 690,000 will get the fix. It will probably cost a lot more than $200 per truck. I have the 3 leaf pack on my '09 and had them checked. No cracks or breakage but the guy said it was time to replace them(138,000) and tried to sell me new ones(not at dealer). I told him I'm waiting on free ones. I just hauled over 1200 lbs. of coal with no problem. If they have to break to get new ones I may be hauling coal more frequently. I believe the length of time it is taking to announce the fix indicates new leaf packs for all. If it was a cheap fix they would have announced it by now.

Who actually makes the leaf springs?? I highly doubt Toyota makes the leaf springs. So - replacements will probably involve an agreement with insurance and/or the supplier. Toyota isn't losing as much money as you think - if any at all. Dealerships get $$ from Toyota to install them - so it's a money maker for the dealerships.

:)They're workin on it. Just hope it's in my lifetime.

Manufacturer: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing

    SUMMARY:

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2005-2011 Toyota Tacoma Pre-Runner and 4x4 vehicles manufactured September 14, 2009, to October 11, 2010. In the affected vehicles, one of the leaf springs may fracture due to stress or corrosion. While being driven, the broken leaf could move out of position and contact surrounding components including the fuel tank, possibly puncturing the tank and causing a fuel leak. CONSEQUENCE:

If the fuel tank leaks fuel from being punctured, there is an increased risk of a fire. REMEDY:

Toyota will notify owners and dealers will install new rear leaf spring assemblies. The interim notices were sent out in late November 2014. A second notice will be mailed when parts become available. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. NOTES:

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Yes. That was from the Fed recall site, and Toyota customer service now cops to it too. We now know the elusive 'remedy', we just have to hope they don't snap before they get around to it!

I received the letter and stopped by a local dealership to see if they knew anything about it or when the implementation might begin. They had no idea, they just told me to sit tight and wait.

I called the number on the first recall letter I received in Nov. I was given a case number. The recall rep said new leafs....once second letter rolls out. Dint know when that was happening. That second letter will need to be checked off that recall was completed.

That's where my problem will probably be. (besides the shitty ass original parts that failed on the truck in the first place). I replaced mine in Jan 14, when it failed. I saved my reciepts and took pictures. All good. My problem is that I don't want their shitty ass new parts. I need the dealer to inspect the truck, and check off that second letter so I can send it to Toyota with my reciepts. Then, they'll reimburse. So, I have the feeling if I want my money back i have to have them take off the leafs (General Spring HDs btw...very happy with them) & install their new ones.

I'm not sure about that. It would seem they may reimburse if you've already paid for something else, but not give you new springs too. I'd sure hope the new springs would be of superior quality than the shit that's on there now, or the whole recall would be a major blow to Toyota.

I would not think so. IF You had the problem, fixed it - why should they replace good parts at their expense. Once they say your replaced springs (by you) are ok they do not have to spend any MORE money, fulfilled Safety recall issue and now are off the hook for any future issues with your non Toyota springs. I think you will be just fine when you produce your docs and should get reimbursed no problemo ..... :)

Finally got tired of waiting for this tease and ordered Dakars. Hoping a friend of a friend who is a tech for Toyota can put the Dakars on and throw the new springs in the bed under warranty

So in reading Toyotas recall notice it states 2005 thru 2011 model years, but for trucks made 9/9 thru 10/10. So does this mean 2009 & 2010 model years only would get the replacement springs?
